INFORMATION: 12oz bottle with no freshness date. I know that Lagunitas usually puts a code on the bottle from which you can determine what day of the year that it was brewed, but there is no such code here. This bottle is from this Spring’s batch, so it’s pretty fresh. 64 IBUs....7.5% ABV.

APPEARANCE: Pours a pale yellow-orange color with a good two fingers worth of off-white colored head floating on top. Plenty of carbonation bubbles visible within the glass. Pretty good clarity for a wheat beer. Impressive lacing sticking to the inside of the glass with each sip.

NOSE: Orange, lemon, mango, juicy fruit gum, musk melon! This beer is fruiTy with a capital T! Behind the wall of citrus lies subtle hints of this being a wheat beer.

TASTE: Good light wheat flavor up front, but it’s short lived. Fruity flavors come rushing in just as the aroma suggest. There’s a touch of hop bitterness towards the middle, but this beer is big on the citrus, and not so much on the bitterness. The flavor of the wheat shows itself again towards the back end. Soft fruity finish begs for you to take another sip.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium bodied with a soft carbonation.

OVERALL: The best of the best where wheat beers are concerned.

Morey’s Bottom Line: The first time that I had this, I was floored. I’ve had it several times since, and nothing’s changed. If you see this, by all means....grab a six pack!

2 finger head is very rocky with great retention.. very clear lite orange golden brew. The nose is immediate and surprisingly pungent hoppy.. citric hoppiness with a great pale malt backbone.. Bitter bite out of the gate with pale malts that melt quickly into an unapologetic citric hoppiness.. some floral hoppiness and minor pine come into play.

On tap at Smack Shack. Pours a clear gold with an off white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma a combination of sweet citrus and sweet grains with a bit of bread underlying. Flavor has a combination of bitter and sweet citrus with sons sweet grains backing.

I bought this beer at a Fresh Market grocery store in Midlothian, Va 7/29/16. I could not find the bottling date on this until I poured into a glass and held the bottle up into the sunlight!! Code is on the back of the neck of the bottle??? Julian code 166 6 means June 14, 2016! I still don’t understand WHY brewers do this! Do You? Just as easy 6/14/16!!! Pours very clear and with a golden color. Pine, citrus and grassy. A little sweet grapefruit and very hoppy! Semi-dry taste @ the end! Another great tasting beer! Excellent! Beware though this beer is 7.5% alcohol! Can’t taste it and it will sneak up on you!! Enjoy the summer! SEH

Bottle pours a clear golden orange with a one finger off-white head and good lacing. Smells a floral apple pear. Tastes crisp, neither sweet nor bitter, with some unusual fruity flavors. Aftertaste is a but sweet initially, then a little more sour than I prefer. Slightly above average overall.

Sampled from tap at ’Beertemple’ at 7.4% abv. Clear, golden yellow with a stable, frothy, white head. Sweetish, fruity-grassy, slightly herbal aroma of lemongrass, pineapple, fresh grass and some passion fruit. Sweetish, fruity-grassy, slightly herbal taste of lemongrass, pineapple, some honey and fresh grass, followed by a short, moderately bitter, quite grassy and a little herbal finish. Medium body, relatively creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really nice!
