Another Big Sister of the Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale…. Loads of Malted Wheat for a Curious Malt Foundation and a Light Color, But Our Belgian Yeast Leaves a Huge Flavor and Complexishness.

I am not sure what’s wild about this. I expected something a bit sour or funky but this is really along the same lines as Hop Stoopid, which is to say it is a very good IIPA. The color is slightly hazy orange and the head is white, of medium bubbles and leaves behind big chunks of lace. It is medium dry with any sweetness more than balanced by hop bitterness. Medium to light bodied but creamy w/ gentle but vigorous carbonation. Fruity and very lightly tart, there is a slight woodiness but no funk whatever. This drinks lighter than it’s 7.8% ABV but is still quite hoppy and flavorful which is how I like these sorts of things. It’s a very good beer but maybe not what you’d expect based on the name.

Pale straw-coloured pour. The nose is very fruity and almost tropical. The hops have a nice citrusy character that accentuates the fruitiness of the yeast. Sort of a mix of pineapple and dried plums. Lightly minerally bitterness and a fairly nice integration of yeast and hops – not particularly Bretty though.

On tap at Andys Corner Bar. Clear orange in color with an off white head. Citrusy, spicy hops with some malt sweetness. Flavor is citrusy grapefruit, orange peel and some spicy hops. Very hoppy flavor. Full bodied beer. Moderate hop bitterness creating a nice and pleasing balance. Very nice beer.

Great complexity, really nice fusion of a Belgian yeast with an IPA hop character.

draft @ redlight redlight. Big hop nose, piney with some citrus and hints of spice. Pours blonde with a solid white head. Piney hops upfront with some bitter citrus peels, sweet orange and spicy belgian sweetness. Solid beer.

22oz bottle. The appearance blew me away. It is an ever so slight hazy amber color with a touch of carbonation. The head is eggshell and a beautiful pillow top followed by lacing that clung to the glass like melted sugar that re-solidified. On nose there is massive hop, citrus, and sugar scents. On palate there is an initial hop ’pow’ followed by an almost candy like taste up front. The finish was puzzling sweat yet hot.

Pours clear and orangey with a medium head. Wonderful fruit and sweet malt nose. Medium body with citrus hoppiness and a witbeer kind of spice. Finishes smooth. A really nice beer.

Bomber from Taylor’s Market in Sacramento, CA. Pours rather clear and orange with a foamy white head. Lush floral/fruit aromas. Near full bodied with foamy carbonation. Malt? Well hidden. Hop - lots of floral, could be background citrus and pine. Finishes with a little light malt sweet and bitter stuck all over the mouth. YUM!

Bottle says 8.85%. Crisp amber with a nice white head. Fresh citrus hops, faint spice, cinnamon maybe, yeast comes through faintly as well. Very smooth and easy to drink. Hops hit you upfront with great citrus flavors, light fruits, yeast kicks in along with the spices.

Poured up on tap at the Brass Tap pouring clear copper with gold edges and off white head. The aroma puts out loads of rich citrus, spicy hops and some smooth smelling sugary malt sweetness. The taste is rich sugar infused grapefruit, sugary tangelo juice, orange peel and some spicy hops to round out the initial impression. Full rich hoppy brew with loads of hop flavor and moderate hop bitterness creating a pleasing balance. I think the yeast used here may have allowed this to seem a touch thinner and drier.
