Another Big Sister of the Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale…. Loads of Malted Wheat for a Curious Malt Foundation and a Light Color, But Our Belgian Yeast Leaves a Huge Flavor and Complexishness.

Pours a clear golden color with white head. Citrus, pine, and some bread on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice pine note.

Bottle (12oz): Golden pour with one finger head. Quite a bit of malt and sweet in the finish. I know a lot like this, but not one of my favorites.

Aromas- Tropical fruit and pineapple dominate. Orange, peach, fresh hops, a little pine, a touch of caramel, and earthy hop spices. Very inviting. After the glass was empty, the residue smelled like bananas. Taste- Sweet tropical fruit, grapefruit, orange, and light pine up front. Resinous pine, some earthy hop spice, grapefruit, and rind on the finish. Awesome caramel backbone flows underneath basically from beginning to end. Palate- On the thicker side of medium. Oily and resinous with nice carbonation. Coats the entire mouth. Nice lingering bitterness without being too much.

A- Pours a dark golden color with a nice, tight 1.5 finger head that sticks around for a while. S- Lots of hops with hints of belgian yeast. T- Light fruits, peach, apricot hints of spice with a strong and assertive hop backbone and alcohol on the finish. M- Medium viscosity and carbonation. D- Very tasty beer. Easy to drink and much hoppier than expected.

Pours a clear pale gold with a frothy white head that leaves tons of lace. Aroma of pine, bubblegum, caramel, sweet pale malts and honey. Taste is a great complexity of spicy Belgian yeast phenols, pepper, alcohol pine, resin, grapefruit and a nice smooth bitterness through with a semi dry finish. Nice and complex while holding a great balance... Could use a bit more complexity on the nose bit otherwise this is a great beer.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance has a golden amber/maybe closer to a yellow colored body, one finger white foamy head that dissipates and leaves a nice spider web speckled faded looking lacing, light carbonation is seen rising. The smell is slightly sour and/or tart mango/lemon fruitiness up front, hops showing some pizazz. The taste is basically the same adding a bitterness from the hops that seem to be showing a bit more, lemony aftertaste, quick dry finish. The palate sits light on the body, pretty sessionable (perhaps poundable to some). Carbonation is somewhat sharp which is good for the style and I say good to me. Overall, I say this is a good Belgian IPA by style that I would have again. Kudos to Lagunitas for a style that I don’t normally go after too much.
