Another Big Sister of the Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale…. Loads of Malted Wheat for a Curious Malt Foundation and a Light Color, But Our Belgian Yeast Leaves a Huge Flavor and Complexishness.

AROMA: earthy but soft and organic, malt and fruits, a little bit of wheat, aromatic - not a Belgian but it is reminiscent, yeasty esters and phenols (haybale), fleshy stone fruits (pears and peaches and apricots), while this is OK for an American version but it will not meet expectations for a real Belgian (give it a 9 for an American Belgian but not for a Belgian) APPEARANCE: light yellowish-brown, small bubbles continue for sometime, Belgian strong Ale yes, almost a golden ale; TASTE: rich caramelised malts but malty sweetness is not overstated, honey, caramel, candy corn; PALATE: medium to full body, slightly sticky and creamy, mild carbonation, lingering finish; OVERALL: It works. It is not a Belgian SA but it is an excellent attempt at a very high standard of excellence.

22 oz bottle. Pours a golden blonde with small white head leaving close to no lacing on the glass. Aroma yeast and a bit of lemon zest. Initial taste is a bit of lemon going into an earthy yeast finish. Light bodied. Low carbonation.

Tasted from draft. Pours a cloudy orange with white head. Good lacing. Aroma of citrus fruit, belgian yeast and spice. Taste is sweet malt with moderate bitterness. Citrus fruit and belgian spice notes present. Very well balanced. Not an overpowering bitterness. Really blends good with the malty sweetness. Overall great tasting IPA. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Definitely a great belgian IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at BrewDog Edinburgh, merci Dan! Pours a standard clear gold. Aroma is great - hops, lambic tartness, red fruits. Taste is nice, hoppy with a Belgian twang .but too hoppy for my taste. Nice, but not my thing.

Strong yeast flavor which is a good thing. An Alc. % that will sneak up on you and leaving snoozing peacefully.

Pours slightly hazy gold with white head. Aroma is yeast and malted wheat. Belcian yeast flavors of bananna and clove. Lots of grassy bitterness from the hops. A little bit of citrus in there to. More bitter than i expected. Pretty good.

Characteristics of a golden strong, tripel, saison, and ipa are all presented on a silky smooth medium weight body, a very solid beer for an excellent price

A tall, frothy, white heads sits atop a slightly hazed amber body, carbonation initially decorates the glass with a few streamers, a few large spots and arcing peninsulas of lace hang on throughout the drink
-
Flowers, hay, and grass open the show with citrus, apple, and white pepper building over doughy honey biscuit on a silky smooth medium body with appropriate carbonation drying out and echoing all the aromas and flavors with pronounced white pepper and grass; as this warms, juicy, tropical hop notes gain traction and contrast with the Belgian yeast characteristics, harmony is finally restored during the final sips around 60º

12oz bottle code 203 3 6259 2210 (bottled 203rd day of 2013 = July 22nd) at 45º into Spiegelau Beer Classic Pilsner (tulip)

The beer is tangerine orange color with a deep cream-colored head. Excelllent lacing and retention. The bear is slightly cloudy. The aroma is nicely hoppy; with a orange peel dominating. The yeast and malt aromas are muted with the yeast slightly more noticeable than the malt. A hint of clove adds some complexity to the hop character. The beer is lightly sweet with an ample citrusy hop fruitiness up front. But the complexity of this beer is a wonder. As the palate settles, I find juicy fruit bubble gum and bread. The finish has just a hint of clove and other spices. Body is bordering on heavy. Texture is sticky and oily. This beer is immensely drinkable. The complexity of the finish brings me back to the glass again and again. Although the texture is substantial, it is in no way overbearing. The beer reminds me of the Stone Begi-Calique with a reduced yeast profile. I liked that beer quite a bit as well, if I remember correctly. This beer is excellent. It combines two of my favorite styles: American IPA and Strong Belgian ales. Good job Lagunitas.
