mmm.. Aroma is peach candy and brown sugar. There is a pleasant basement-funk aroma also. The first cold sip is bitter with nice notes of citrus. It is very dry and has hints of hop flavors: pine cones, citrus, fresh cut grass. It is sweet, but very dry and earthy. Very nice complex beer on a Sunday afternoon.

12oz bottle. Clear copper pour with thin white head. Big hop aroma. Flavor is piney hops with a creamy bready malt background. Finishes dry.

Tasted from draft. Pours a cloudy orange with white head. Good lacing. Aroma of citrus fruit, belgian yeast and spice. Taste is sweet malt with moderate bitterness. Citrus fruit and belgian spice notes present. Very well balanced. Not an overpowering bitterness. Really blends good with the malty sweetness. Overall great tasting IPA. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Definitely a great belgian IPA.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Decent IPA flavor profile, but doesn’t pick up a whole lot from the yeast selection, in my opinion. Aroma is largely pine and cut grass. Flavor is mildly resinous. Biggest improvement over regular Sumpin is the texture.

This is a pretty amazing beer. Soft, silky malt on the palate, but swirling all around it is wave after wave of spice (white pepper, cloves) and citrus (lemon peel) as well as fresh sourdough bread and pine needles. I wish I had more.

The hops hit you immediately with Lagunitas Sumpin’ Wild Ale. Clear straw color with a big white head that doesn’t stick around for long. Checking in at more than 70 IBUs, there is a bit of a lip pucker factor with the huge hop flavor. But there is some sweetness in there, too, and a hint of cherries, even. As it warms I’m getting some wheat malt coming through, which is adding a nice layer of flavor.
Overall, it’s good, but the hops dominate everything else.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
More IPA-a double really- than belgian. Big floral and citrus aroma, with hints of candied fruit. Strong bitter hop flavors and fruity malts play with the added funky complexity of the westmalle yeast. Delicious.

Light orange/copper in color with a nice white head. Aroma is citrus, hops, floral. Pine, citrus, sweet malt, a little belgiany. I like this one.
