4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Purchased 6 pack at BevoMo in Redding, CA. The pour: The color pours a deep golden (much like a Belgian dark blonde) Head is lively, but collapses quickly due to ABV. The meniscus is true to the abv content. Bouquet / aroma: my sample had almost a smoky aroma due to the complex belgian yeast. Flavor / palate: dry, hoppy, almost a hint of pepper. The finish: dry, lingering, this is a special ale indeed. Prost!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle into a wine glass.
A: Pours a golden color. The head has the typical frothiness of a Belgian-style beer, but perhaps isnít as towering, at only a finger high. Head color is eggshell. Spotty patches of lacing are left down the glass.
S: Pleasantly spicy, with the sweet hops typical of Lagunitas. Thereís also a decent black pepper note which serves to balance the former out. Buried beneath those two is a faint malt backbone. This really smells like it will be good.
T: Upon hitting the palate, it tastes exactly like LSS - imagine that. It starts with a combination of wheat malt and sweet-yet-piny hoppiness. But that finish is where it really takes off. The spiciness on the back end gives this a passing resemblance to a good tripel, albeit one thatís well hopped. Basically, itís delicious throughout.
M: One gripe, itís a bit too heavy. Because of that and carbonation thatís only ímediumí, the sweetness isnít fully cleansed off of the finish quite as much as Iíd like. Still, thatís not a problem in the least. Thereís no hint of the 8.8% anywhere; this feels like itís about 5%.
O: Lagunitas is just like Motorhead - they tend to always taste/sound the same from beer to beer/album to album, but when that taste/sound is so damn good, it really doesnít matter. Yes, this is just another hoppy Lagunitas beer. And I donít care, because this is really damn good.

4.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A very well blended ale, not bitter even though there are 71 IBUs. Very fruity and the Belgian yeast I think are understated. A very refreshing beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not nearly as good as their Little Sumpiní Sumpiní, I had this with no previous knowledge of what to expect. Fermenting fruits in the cellar ofr aroma, and some grassy, grapefruit bitterness on the flavour. OK, but not my choice for a Belgian Ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle to DFH IPA glass
A - Pours a hazy amber/honey color with 1 finger of frothy off-white head. Good but average lacing.
S - Earthy grains, herbal hops, bright pineapple, apple, woody, dirty grapefruit, spicy phenols come out more as it warms.
T - Grapefruit jumps right out, sweet pale malt, pineapple, white pepper, pears, a second wave of grassy/herbal hops flood in with notes of wood. Semi chalky bitterness runs into the finish. Finishes dry and earthy with white pepper and grapefruit/tropical notes.
M - Medium body, lush feel, moderate soft carbonation, dry earthy finish.
Interesting beer for sure. Nice bitterness and very complex. The dirty citrus/tropical fruit works well against the sweet pale malt. I bought a sixer of this and they got better and better. This is one to seek out.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Purchased at Charlestown Wine & Spirits RI, 12oz bottle. Pours a cloud amber with a small white head quick to dissipate. Smells strongly of Belgian yeast with some fruit flavors like orange and grapefruit mixed it. Taste strongly of the Belgian yeast but the hops and wheat malt actually mix quite well and all together do a good job of covering the strong Abv. Light bodied with plenty of carbonation. Belgian flavor stands out which Iím not a fan of but this is certainly a good beer.
