Another Big Sister of the Little Sumpiní Sumpiní AleÖ. Loads of Malted Wheat for a Curious Malt Foundation and a Light Color, But Our Belgian Yeast Leaves a Huge Flavor and Complexishness.

I chose a Duvel tulip for the occasion of this session, and A Little Sumpiní Wild Ale looked very nice in it, with the clear orange body,, and a two finger thick head. The aroma was not exactly wild, but it was very edgy due to the aggressive hop presence, which asserted itself as papaya, pine, tangerine, and mango. The taste was not sweet like the aroma hinted at. Instead the beer was dry, tart, and smooth, with just a touch of radish like spiciness in the finish. Very delicate in the feel, and very sneaky in the alcohol expression, this was like a dirty Duvel. I like the unusual combination of characteristics that work in this creation.

Wonderful aroma of little apricot, caramel and orange peel. Foam is great at pouring, but quickly falls into a flimsy creamy foam layer on top. It is probably due to the high alcohol strength that foam is not so violent. It is launched as a strong ale. Fruit balance is excellent and it is well to a little heavy caramel. The fruit is again orange peel and apricot, perhaps also a little peach. I think it is close to an English barley wine, because just British barley wines often packs taste of alcohol into good fruity malt tones and caramel, while the American barley wines are much more alcohol dominated and often much stronger.

On tap at Taze. Nice nose with mix of spicy-herbal fresh hops and light wildish funk. Dry. Golden amber with light haze, topped with white fluffy creamy lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts and stays dry with carbonic fizz. Big hop flavor but not too bitter. Nice wild funky notes with big bitter finish and smooth after. Tasty.

Tap, aroma is malts and pine with some citrus, taste is well balanced malts and citrus and earthy hops, seems more along the lines of an ipa... nice

Bottle to a teku showing light amber and moderate filtration with sparse white foam. The nose shows a mix of mango with hints of bananas and intermittent sweet bread/yeast notes. The palate is full bodied with even carbonation but not a lot on the palate. A slight bitterness at the end reminiscent of a lager and sharp notes of an IPA. Spicy notes at the end on the palate but in terms of the first impression, there isnít a lot going on here.

Bottle into tulip glass. Pours a clear golden colour with small white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Taste is sweet with a little sourness not getting much bitterness for 72 ibuís. This is a truly wild brew.

On tap at Bleachers Taproom inside Whole Foods. The pour is a pretty clear orangey gold with a thin white head and some great lace. The aroma is a little malty with a light belgian yeast character to it. There is a little hop at the end, and it doesn't strike me as a belgian. The flavor is more belgian. There is a strong malt and funkiness to it from the yeast, but it remains a bit bitter and solid. The mouth feel is a touch light, but it is well carbonated with a lingeringly malty aftertaste and a little funk. Not too bad ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a clean white head. Aromas of musty yeast, muted hop presence. Touch of funk underneath. A little stale. Hops have been lost. Decent, not Mind blowing. Waxed.
