On tap at the Livermore Saloon. It pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma has tons of coffee grounds and cocoa with some nuts and a good balanced bourbon influence. The flavor is the same. Big time coffee although a bit stale. The bourbon vanilla, caramel, and wood are there but not overpowering. Actually very nice. It drinks kind of light on the palate. Not really complex, but enjoyable.

A: The beer pours a very dark brown color with a small, soapy, off-white head.
S: Bourbon comes through on the nose along with a somewhat mild coffee aroma (despite being a coffee beer). As expected, a bit of vanilla and a strange spice note of cinnamon, but it goes nicely with the bit of oatmeal cookie and toffee aromas.
T: On the palate, the vanilla stands out quite nicely with the bourbon flavor being a bit less pronounced. Some mild fruit notes and a fairly minimal coffee flavor. A light oatmeal sort of flavor along with molasses, toffee, and a mild spice.
M: Unfortunately, the body is a bit light/thin. The carbonation is on the lower end of medium.
O: Good aromas and decent flavors, but sort of lacking in terms of mouthfeel.

Draft at the taproom... Mediium light murky brown, ok tan head... Smells pretty nice. Sweet bourbon, a touch to sweet, a touch of coffee, ok..more coffee than bourbon, but really watery... Worth trying

On tap at the brewery. Yay!!! Murky brown with orange tints. Tiny tan head. Nose is beautiful. Warm alcohol bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and hints of cold coffee. Taste is fantastic too. Reminds me of BAD. Chocolate boozy maltballs. Ab fab. Will try for growler.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2011 Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom 4th Anniversary... Poured near black with a light tan head. Quite boozy with hints of bourbon. Coffee was very much an undertone. Roast, cocoa, vanilla extract, grains, worty, cookie-dough. Some fortified fruit esters too.

On tap. Pours with a black body with a large and lasting fluffy tan head that leaves good lacing. Aromas are nutty, cocoa, barrel, brown sugar, molasses, bourbon. Light esters, a bit of dark fruit. Flavors are rich, nutty, brown sugar, barrel, bourbon, chocolate. Medium to full bodied. Minimal alcohol notes. Dryish, with some light tannins to further the perception. Very approachable, nearly a drinkable barrel aged stout. Some light coffee notes. Medium bubbles. Very well done.

Sampled at taproom. Musky red/brown with a tan head. Vanilla, oak, prunes, bourbon, very light coffee but the bourbon really overwhelms. Mild sweetness that grows towards a bourbon ending, medium carbonation and body. Slightly dry and hoppy finish.

Black pour with tan head. coffee nose. coffee little vanilla. roasty malts. Smooth medium body. slighty bitter finish. Barrel helps on this one but there are so many spectacular stouts out there..

Draft at the brewery. A dark brown beer with a small amount of beige head that quickly dissipates. Nose is roasted toffee, vanilla, bourbon, and a touch of pine hop. Taste is overtly sweet, toffee, vanilla, and toasty malt flavors overpower a minimal hop note, finishing with bourbon sweetness and a spicy alcohol note.

Bottle shared by Brad at Jackie O’s just before Christmas. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Nose is very bourbon forward, but still has notes of chocolate and slight coffee. Flavor starts with vanilla, oak and booze, then smoothes out to chocolate and a roasty finish. The barrel killed the coffee somewhat, but still a solid beer.
