Bistro barrel aged fest 2010. Pours black, as far as I can tell, with a well-formed one-finger tam head and decent lacing. The aroma is excellent - lots of capuccino as well as bourbon barrel notes. A great base stout also comes through, with chocolate, roast, and vanilla. The flavor is absolutely huge and goes on forever. Great espresso, along with rich dark chocolate, vanilla, roast, sugary sweetness, oak, and bourbon. There’s also a spiciness to it, almost like chile peppers were added. Very complex. Full-bodied, decadent and rich, with a good carbonation level. This may be a little amateurish of me, but I liked this beer a lot. Really awesome and intense stuff.

Draft at the Bistro’s First Barrel-Aged BeerFest 11/11/06; Nose of coffee. oak, and bourbon (probably from the bourbon soaked wood chips it was aged with);dark brown with a small tan head; flavour of bourbon, caooffee, caramel, and some roasty woodiness!

Big nose of chocolate, coffee, very slight bourbon and maybe vanilla and coconut. Not sure. Very complex. Spent ten minutes just smelling it; deep dark brown, big caramel coloured head and sticky lacing; sweet and not cloying, rounded so there are subtle hints of acid and salt, noticeably bitter but not hoppy; Rich and full bodied, well carbonated without being fizzy, sticky and a slightly creamy texture, short finish; Big impression.

Cask. Blackish beer with a tan head. Bourbon aroma. Bourbon and caramel flavor with light vanilla. Medium bodied. Bourbon and light stone fruit lingers with caramel and light vanilla. The bartender was sure this was the Imperial Stout and not the Cap Stout, so it could be a different beer...

Tasted at the 5th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on 11/13/2010. This stout pours a dark brown color from the tap. Small to medium sized tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, bourbon and sweet. A medium to full bodied. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are herbal and earthy. Hints of bourbon, vanilla and wood. Very sweet. Nice carbonation. Great sipping beer. Mouthfeel us full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.
