demitriustown (564), Macomb, Michigan, USA May 19, 2008 12 oz bottle: Nice sweet malt aroma, definite big hop characteristic as well, maybe some brown sugar scent but subtle. Appearance is amber/red with a thin tan head. Taste has definitely got some caramel malt in this, citrus hops, sweet, and alcohol is present on the back end. Palate is somewhat sweet on the lips, very tongue coating, and aftertaste has a lingering caramel maltiness and a bit of alcohol. Overall, it’s good but not great kind of like most of the Lugunitas that I’ve had. Maybe it’s too young. Will check back on this one in a year.
jtw (909), farmington, Michigan, USA Aug 17, 2008 12 oz twist-off stubby bottle, pours a coppery amber, and has a unique sweet aroma, accented by salty and bitter notes - immature green hops flavor, hops bitterness is present but not seamless. medium-bodied, particularly for a barley wine, and surprisingly light on the finish. (perhaps it’s just drier than the aroma and flavor would imply?) good beer, but unrefined as a barley wine. HughConway (259), USA Aug 14, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber. Taste is sweet, body is sweet, alcohol is very well hidden. High class malt liquor. aoa56 (17), zeeland, Michigan, USA Aug 10, 2008 Pours dark amber with almost no head. Smelled like brown sugar, and tastes the same. Very smooth. sleepylopes (277), New York, USA Aug 3, 2008 Better thefirst time, in bombers, better in 6 packs. On tap it is much the same butwiht a slight soapyness. Still strong and nice with abitter sweet profile. Will take an other look next time I have a bottle. Beerman6686 (654), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 31, 2008 Poured a cloudy brown color with an off white head. Aroma was very sweet and malty, mainly the brown sugga i guess. Flavor was much the same, actually tasted like brown sugar, hardly any bitterness to be found.
