4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Hopped_Silly (248) - California, USA - NOV 19, 2012Bottle. Fresh hop aromas and flavors of fresh herbs, candied citrus, tangerine, and stonefruit, mixed with layers of rich, Brûléed sugar... Smooth, concentrated mouthfeel... Finishing with a good amount of lingering bitter, candied citrus... Long finish... Not as sweet as I was expecting, though that's ok.. this is delicious. Another great creation from Lagunitas.
--- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 maekchu (1126) - Hirakata, JAPAN - JUN 14, 2013
Bottle from Asahiya. Super-hopped an some nostril-searing caramel, toffee, an fumes. Deep amber/ orange color, thin head, good lace. Superb caramel, and then goes right to the hops. Finish has great balanced, and then leaves alc. tracks all down the throat. Pretty damn good. The label claims that this is a botched batch. But like "Lagunitas Sucks," ... their "mistakes" are better than many breweries’ best efforts.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tdoyledesign (64) - Michigan, USA - MAY 27, 2013
Pours a nice golden brown. Aroma is pretty mild but there’s some hops, molasses. Taste and palate are great! Hops up front with a molasses and brown sugar finish.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mikey (503) - farmington, Utah, USA - MAY 20, 2013
The nose is sweet with brown sugar, toffee & piney/grapefruit hops. The flavor starts sweet and sugary with lots of bitter pine and grapefruit hops. Alcohol comes next with a big toasty bread and caramel finish. A very nice, hoppy brown ale.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Westkyoto77 (156) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 16, 2013
Bottle. This was fantastic. Brown enough, but not exactly sugary. Rich dark coppery-red, thin head. Aromas of molasses, malts, hops. Deliciously smooth and rich- could not pick the high alcohol at all. Awesome stuff.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 gramity (1090) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 7, 2013
Nice brew. Pours brownish/red. Semi sweet and hides the 10 percent alcahol very well. Not exactly a brown ale that I’m used to, but i was pleasantly surprised.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Odysseyalien (19) - New Jersey, USA - APR 23, 2013
The odd thing here is that when I originally tasted this beer, December 2012, I didn’t like it. I didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Maybe cause I was expecting more of a "brown sugar" taste to the beer.
I cellared the remaining four bottles I had and on a whim, decided to open one about two weeks back. To my surprise, I found the taste phenomenal this time. The quintessential American barley wine, it tastes to me like Anchor Steam’s Old Foghorn "should" taste. Really delicious and I really doubt the four months of cellaring made that much of a difference.
Sorry now that I didn’t buy more and will certainly get more when it arrives again late this year.
