An aborted batch of their Old Gnarleywine ended up tasting nearly as good as that they were hoping for, so they bottled it. God bless capitalism. OG 1.100 IBU 51.1

12 oz bottle, no date. Poured deep copper color with not much head. What head there was hung around and laced nicely. Visually looked like good maple syrup with a bit if foam on top. Aroma was subdued. Some resinous pine notes, blended tropical fruit, malt, a bit of rum raisin, sweet. Taste was much bolder. Sweetness initial, but some bitter resin at out the same time, then tropical. Didnít immediately think pineapple. More of a mango and papaya flavor. Bitterness hits at the end, and the I get pineapple syrup flavor in the aftertaste. Body had some raisiny notes, slight brown sugar or caramelized sugar taste. Mouthfeel was smooth and sticky, but aftertaste lingers and gives some tingle from the alcohol. A bit of astringency makes it dry out some. Overall enjoyable to drink. Not what I was expecting. Nice balance, but the lingering aftertaste takes it down tick for me.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

12 oz bottle shared by ebone1988 for this fucking book. The bottle foamed over a little when it was opened. The pour is a darker copper come with a thicker khaki colored head that falls to a thick collar, leaving some thin bubbly lace down the glass. The aroma is very bitter up front. There is a lot of toasty malt and a light fruitiness. The brown sugar really doesnít stick out a whole lot, but itís present. The flavor is very malty right up front. There is a strange not really placeable fruit thing happening. Itís got a nice bitterness to it and a little influence of the sugar. This one is a little different. Itís not bad, but certainly not what I was expecting. The fruitiness is the only thing I canít place, but as it warms it gets better. The mouth feel is thinner and light. A bit of a medium body with a soft carbonation and a sweet brown sugar sweetness with a hint of bitterness.

Bottle shared with koleminer20, for the god damn book. Aroma is toasty, caramel, toffee, slight molasses and some booze, pretty decent. Appearance is copper brown, light tan head, clear. Taste is brown sugar, molasses, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, bitter, earthy hops, decent. Mouthfeel is medium body, light soft carbonation, lots of molasses and hops in the aftertaste. Overall, this one exceeded my expectations.

This is my lowest-rated beer of all time...by far. Super bitter and hoppy. I could literally barely drink one bottle. Actually I didnít, having poured the last few ounces out. Giving the remainder to the six pack to a "friend".

Appearance is a nice Amber with a thin head that doesnít go away Smell is somewhat citrus, caramel, caramel malt, Taste is very warm/alcoholic, brown sugar, lingering piney bitterness Palate is medium-full body with medium carb that is creamy Overall itís a good beer, a sipper, and a little hard to get a read on. Maybe itís because I just brushed my teeth

12oz into taster. Reserved red Amber brown color. Oily surface and feel, corn, Amber red, and biscuits in aroma. Wonderful retention in head, more booze emerges in taste, coconut rum, rasins.... mellow finish, then slight sweet tripping Billieís. Grapefruit, orange, and kiwi all emerge though the booze, frontal cases of red grape, pepper, floral arrangements, and pine usher in. Fresh cantaloupe rinds emerge in aroma too. Sticky and phat tounge pounce, fully loaded strong ale. Barely wine really. Cheers.

Bottle from mchughs. Pours deep copper with off white head. Sweet caramel, light pine hop and some fruit esters in nose. Molasses, treacle sweet with syrup finish. Slight carbonation stops it being too much so.
