COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An aborted batch of their Old Gnarleywine ended up tasting nearly as good as that they were hoping for, so they bottled it. God bless capitalism. OG 1.100 IBU 51.1

12 oz bottle, no date. Poured deep copper color with not much head. What head there was hung around and laced nicely. Visually looked like good maple syrup with a bit if foam on top. Aroma was subdued. Some resinous pine notes, blended tropical fruit, malt, a bit of rum raisin, sweet. Taste was much bolder. Sweetness initial, but some bitter resin at out the same time, then tropical. Didn’t immediately think pineapple. More of a mango and papaya flavor. Bitterness hits at the end, and the I get pineapple syrup flavor in the aftertaste. Body had some raisiny notes, slight brown sugar or caramelized sugar taste. Mouthfeel was smooth and sticky, but aftertaste lingers and gives some tingle from the alcohol. A bit of astringency makes it dry out some. Overall enjoyable to drink. Not what I was expecting. Nice balance, but the lingering aftertaste takes it down tick for me.

Bottle at home. Pour a clear red with a massive off white head that leaves great lacing. Nose is caramel, sweet malty, oranges, hoppy. Flavour is right up there with the style, very sweet sticky malt, bitter hops and a bit of alcohol. Kid of thin on the end, but tasty!

Clear, dark amber beer with a high yellow-biege, fluffy head that leaves a LOT of lacing on the glass! Nose: Caramel malt, butter, dried fruit, alcohol, orange, clementine, marmelade and syrup. Taste: Syrup, caramel, dried fruit, pine, tropical fruit, wood and resin. A special "Lagunitas" taste that I’ve recognised before... Body: Full body with medium carbonation. Oily, smooth taste with a lot of components. Great dry finish. A bitter taste that stays and even increase at the end. This is a ****ing great beer! I think it’s a little too sweet for a dinner but great after a good meal, skip the desert!

Bottle from Systembolaget. Reddish brown color in the glass with a fluffy, thick, white head. Aroma of caramel, alcohol, cotton candy and syrup. The taste bites you inside the mouth, tropical fruit, dried dark fruit, quite heavy alcohol. Long after taste of bitterness.

355ml bottle. Shiny red-brown with tall off white head. Aroma of caramel, sugar, grains and something slightly off. Rather sweet taste with plain brown sugar dominating but also acompanied by a nice hop bitterness and some flavors of burnt sugar and caramel as well as hints of overripe and dried fruits. Maybe not a lot happening in the flavors but the ones that are there combine nicely and play out well. Sticky sugar syrup-y mouthfeel with sticky sugar lingering the longest joined by increasing alcohol warmth.

Garlic_of_Doom (516) - SWEDEN - FEB 23, 2015
Bottle. Amber with a off white head that rests down to a covering film. Sweet aroma with earthy, pine and quite sharp/aggresive herbal hops. Quite good balance between the sweet malty caramel taste and the bitter piney, herbal hops. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, smooth mouth feel. After taste is sweet with a herbal/peppery hop bite.
A bit too heavy on the herbal hops perhaps, otherwise quite good.

AdiBeer (1672) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2015
Aroma: citrus fruits, heavy caramel malts, alcohol. Appearance: clear amber, small, frothy, white head. Taste: heavy sweet. Palate: super sweet, molasses, sugar syrup, intensest forms of caramel, grapefruits, bitters coming up, dry finish. Overall: nice Barley Wine, yet not quite at the top, bit too sharp, lacks elegance. Pint at CBR2015, Shoreditch.

A bit too sweet for me. Didn’t see that this was a barley wine. Sticky and with that slighly odd aroma and taste.
