An aborted batch of their Old Gnarleywine ended up tasting nearly as good as that they were hoping for, so they bottled it. God bless capitalism. OG 1.100 IBU 51.1

On tap at Craft Beer Base. Great hoppy nose, couldn’t believe it was a barley wine. Perfectly balanced palate, you can taste the alcohol, but incredibly drinkable.

Damn great stuff from Lagunitas. This is somewhere inbetween Sucks and NightTime. Malt forward, without getting bready. Sweet, without getting cloying. Caramel, sugar. Hop forward, great balanced carbonation. Pours a beautiful brown-red. It’s one of the tastiest seasonals around. Lagunitas are really spectacular!

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours clear, brown, nice off white head. Aroma of caramel , grain some hops and some malts. Taste is bitter, hoppy, a bit of booze, some caramel and some malts. Very interesting, very enjoyable, but definitely a sipper. Nice beer.

Sweetness is there but this one is still a blast of hoppiness. If you like Sumpin’ Extra you’ll like this one too, I still prefer Sumpin’ Wild.

Bottle. Bright red with tight tan head. Burnt floral aroma. Sweet brown sugar in the taste with the signature lagunitas hop bitterness. Also notes of caramel, and warm booze. Medium body, average carb. A great winter seasonal brew.

Poured from a 12 oz. Aroma is slightly floral. Flavor is somewhat sweet and hoppy. It has a resinous, biscuit flavor...but not overwhelming with brown sugar. Definitely has a sweet aftertaste. Not bad!

Bottle. Almost clear. Dark amber. Nose of resin, caramel, cheese, alcohol. Taste is cough syrup, caramel, licorice, scorched sugar. Mouthfeel has a bite up front, spritzy in the middle, smooth-ish warm finish. Overall this is a pretty nice tasting f-up.

Bottle 12/15/14. Pours a translucent amber with a fluffy, white-beige head. Aroma is sweet, brown sugar, grass, cereal, spicy, floral, caramel. Taste is rich, bittersweet, floral, herbal, brown sugar, burnt caramel, cereal, grass, alcohol; finish is long burnt caramel, roast malt, and fruit rind. Dense lacing throughout. Full-bodied, chewy. Medium-low carbonation. Fairly intense but pretty darn good.

Fantastic Beer. Finishes a bit sticky for my liking, although hardly a fault, as the name suggests it's sweet.

On tap at Lagunitas Chicago taproom. Pours plum brown. Flavor is malty molasses, but with a moderately crisp and medium mouthfeel and with a crisp, slightly bitter finish. ABV can be felt. Slightly oily.
