STEPHENDR (478), California, USA Apr 14, 2006 red copper hue , nose of light hops , sweet and clean, taste is chewy with a sweet/ sour and metallic thing going on, sweet shugga finish, on of my personal favorites seandwyer (10), USA Oct 27, 2006 Beautiful. Intense. Wow. I’m just looking for adjectives. Thisis a great beer. Pours great. Smells great. Tastes above and beyond. If you’re stouted out turn to this barley wine. You’ll be pleased. jah noth (941), Rochester, New York, USA Feb 5, 2005 Good god, this is impressive! Some sweetness on the nose. Very nice head with tiny bubbles like a pancake that needs to be flipped. Beautiful chestnut in color. Flavor is incredible very hoppy with brown sugar to boot. Thick mouthfeel and delicious. Now THIS is a beer! Thanks to the Derek (The Fat Man) for the sample. lunaticharness (183), Roseville, Michigan, USA Aug 4, 2003 i drove up to the brewery today and took their tour - awesome people and good place - after tasting some of their beers i inquired about the brown shugga and they said they had a partial case a guy sent back and gave me a couple 22's on the way out... i dont know if anyone from the brewery checks this but thanks alot! sweet sugary, piney, caramel aroma, nice fat head that turns into a ring and a frost like layer of head, nice ruby garnett color, moderately warm at tasting time, its sweet initially and then it gets bitter as it hits the back of the tongue and then sweetens up a bit to level it all out, a bit of a bitter aftertaste, and earthy note right before the after taste if that makes any sense... BigBastard (669), L.A., California, USA Feb 12, 2004 Updated: May 18, 2005Man, this is delicious. Sweet, hoppy flavor with a smooth, slightly tart finish. Aftertaste is hops, caramel, candy, and pine. Loved this one, one of my all time favorites!
