On tap @ Lagunitas Petaluma. Pours dark blackish brown with lacy mocha head. Aroma is medium chocolate malt, and boozy bourbon and oaky malt notes. Taste is similar: big rich roasty chocolate malt, with big bourbon and oak notes on the finish. Tastes well smaller than the 12% listed here. Rich, tons of flavor, great barrel-aged notes here.

Draught at SB. Pours a near-black color with a small light tan head on there. Nose is heavily whiskey laden with only slight bits of roasting coming through. Taste is slightly sweet with a bit of chocolate in there, but a lot of whisky, almost making it a little bit too boozy. Still very smooth and tasty, though. I like it.

Draft at special brews brewers night. Pours black with a forever lasting Yan head. Boozy coffee bean aroma. Really smooth beer with a nice coffee finish. A little boozy but not enough to matter. Good flavor. Good beer.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, loads of coffee grind, chocolate, molasses, dark fruits, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice smooth bitter sweet chocolate with dark fruits, cappuccino coffee, alcohol warmth, well done. On tap at Porter Beer Bar.

On tap at Original Gravity, pours black with off white head. Aromas are bourbon barrel, fudge, and roasted malt. taste is super rich barrel, dark fruit, roasted malt and grains and an overall stickiness. Medium body with a little bit of booze but nothing unmanageable.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2014 Nicely done stout. Good coffee flavor and very drinkable. Still think I like the big bad Baptist from epic a little better but still a really good beer.

On tap at the 2014 Secret Stash Bash (Atlanta). The very fine stout that serves as the base for this special edition gets a bit lost in this barrel aged version, especially the coffee. But this is, nonetheless, a fine barrel aged brew. The barrel effects dominate but are not overwhelming, leaving some dark roasted malts showing. Has a fine smooth feel, although the alcohol shows more than I would hope. Beautiful dark amber body is covered by a very durable beige head. O: worth seeking out.

Draught @ Brouwers Cafe:   Black, deep cola hued, thin to moderate foamy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Big barrel aged nose, whiskey, roasty, graham cracker with a bit of vanilla, marshmallow, and chocolate.   Similar on the tongue, smooth, not as barrel aged on the nose, a bit more subtle but I think that’s a good thing.   Solid, smooth, sweet, roasty, with soft whiskey, chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow notes.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Smooth finish, chocolate, graham cracker, whiskey, and sweet roasted malts.   Great beer, low bitterness, sweet, and just overall tasty!
