Alittle thin on the palate but makes it up in flavor. Flavors of coffee cocoa sweet betters. Overall great beer. bigguns22 (88), Maryland, USA Nov 6, 2009 Pours mahogany with a large tan head. NayTron (30), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA Oct 20, 2009 Smells like fresh coffee and chocolate, very good aroma. Taste like sweet expresso, caramel and vanilla. Fullbodied, chewey with a very slight wonderful bitter. Finishes very clean. This is an excellent beer. I’m surprised the rating is in the low 90’s. 0o9i (326), Reno, Nevada, USA Oct 19, 2009 Bomber. Deep, garnet body with a small head that vanishes without a trace. Aroma of roast coffee, dark fruits, chocolate, burnt toffee. Medium-full body with nice, light carbonation for a dry finish. Loads of coffee accompanied by prune, baker’s chocolate; not so bitter, fairly acidic. Lots of roast. Some pine hops on finish. goldfish19 (33), Long Island, New York, USA Sep 22, 2009 Updated: Oct 7, 2009~ Purchased this 22 oz bomber from Frank’s Beverage in Glen Cove, NY. The appearance of this stout is nothing crazy, but then again, your buying this beer for the taste. The aroma is predominantly coffee, followed by some roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate. The taste is of rich dark coffee and roasted malts, which finishes with a bitter coffee aftertaste. The 8.3% ABV is well hidden behind all the flavors, making this one truly drinkable. A well-behaved stout overall, but it’s far from outstanding. ~ Marsiblursi (1628), Göteborg, Sweden Sep 19, 2009 (Bottle) Pours dark brown to black with light brown, nougat coloured head. The aroma holds dark fruits, chocolate roast, mild coffee, caramel, liquorice/blackberry candy and mild resiny and tea-like hops. Undertones of milk, earth, vanilla, and a mild oxidation. The flavour is near medium sweet, light bitter and light acidic. The finish is light sweet. Tones of dark fruit, caramel, chocolate, light coffee and light vanilla alongside mild oxidation. The mouthfeel is creamy, almost velvety with a light carbonation. Milky and mild roasted coffee aftertaste. Medium bodied. 17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 10, 2009 Pours a clear dark reddish mahogany with a thin but taller frothy slightly creamy beige head. Doesn’t look much like any stout I’ve ever seen. Okay, so I didn’t know this was an Autumn release, so I’m sure this bottle is over a year old... rats. Aroma is fairly sweet, soy, some faded hops, maybe some tart berries. Flavor is fairly sweet and chocolaty, chocolate syrupish, some remnants of PNW hops, a bit creamy, some roast acidity towards the back-end, really missing the coffee here. Finishing overpoweringly sweet, the bitterness doesn’t stand a chance. The balance of this is way off. Medium bodied, corse uneven rocky carbonation, disjointed syrupy and creamy chalky mouthful. Shall try again fresh. A very unusual stout, but I think I might like it. The hops are actually still hanging around quite a bit, bitter chocolate and citrus combo. Hides the alcohol exceptionally. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Aug 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark black with head. Coffee and roast aroma. Taste is deep dark and rich roast. Thick and fantastic.
