kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA Feb 10, 2009 Poured from the bomber to a dark brown with ruby tints. Aroma was a coffee-toffee mixture, with a hint of roasted nutty malts. Mouthfeel was full and slightly chewy and the taste mirrored the nose. The only surprise was that the 8.3% alcohol never made itself known in either the nose or taste. Nonetheless, the finish was smooth and long. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA Feb 9, 2009 22oz bottle pours medium brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of coffee and toffee. Medium body with a good sweet body (think mil stout0 and a good bit of coffee, but not overbearing. A bit of dryness and bitterness at the end. Not bad. cblado (146), Wisconsin, USA Feb 8, 2009 22 oz bomber. Poured a dark amber color, translucent. Some tan head, decent lacing. Aroma was malty with coffee notes, very pleasing. Flavor was coffee up front, with a smooth malted barley flavor. Palate was very smooth. Overall a great stout. BrotherGrendel (551), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Feb 8, 2009 A- Pours a dark brown and black hue, brown head starts small and gets smaller, lacing is thin and wispy
S- Nose is, of course, coffee cappuccino, chocolate malts, roastiness, subtler hops, and alcohol
T- Initial taste is sweet coffee malts with a nice balance of dark chocolate, surprising hit of bitter hops comes midway, finishes with alcohol warming
M- Full-bodied beer, thick and chewy texture, moderate carbonation
D- Another bang-up Limited Release from Lagunitas, this is one big bold stout with a jolt of West Coast hops, the alcohol is far from mild and can detract from the overall drinkability but this is a wonderful overall entrant in this category ndubs360 (114), portland, Oregon, USA Feb 6, 2009 Bottle. Dark black with a nice puffy brown head. nose dominated by nuts/coffee/and chocolate/ High ABV got me as toasted as the flavor of the malts. Great beer. popkow (107), New York, New York, USA Feb 1, 2009 Bottle dark brown body with minimal head. I got a nutty coffee bean taste but not overwhelming cappuccino taste one might expect. A good ale with a above ABV. BigBang (210), Indiana, USA Jan 31, 2009 Pours dark brown with small head. Some coffee and chocolate malt in both taste and aroma - not very complex, reasonably balanced. Thin mouthfeel, which is disappointing. Overall not very exciting or interesting. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Jan 30, 2009 Dark brown with ruby highlights and a decent sized tan head. Aroma is of coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is coffee and nuts with a light acidity.
