raphael (411), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 16, 2009 Deep red brown color with thin khaki head. Aroma of molasses, coffee, cardboard. A little flat in the bottle, thin textured. Reminiscent of baltic porters with the roasted sugar and alcohol flavors, plus coffee and resiny hops.. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Jan 12, 2009 Murky dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of cold, sugary coffee. Flavor is bittersweet, malty cappuccino goodness. Very nice. luttonm (274), Belgrade, Serbia Jan 12, 2009 Bottle. Quite good stout pouring deep dark brown with a creamy head that stays around respectably. nose of booze and espresso with a well balanced sip of malt, sweet coffee and some bite. Very smooth, smokiness/roast is well in check but still present. Touch metallic but great body for a regular stout and quite tasty. Well done. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 11, 2009 bottle - I like my beer like I like my women: thick, dark, bitter, and infused with coffee. huh? This brew pours very dark brown with a big lingering tan head. It smells of dark roast malt and coffee. The flavor is all about the dark roast with the malted goodness and the bitterness of the coffee and hops. I would have guessed more than 29.5 IBUs, but it works. The ABV that I suppose puts this one right on the edge of being an imperial stout isn’t really noticeable. It’s medium to full bodied and if you like coffee like I do, extremely enjoyable. Drink it slow, let it warm and enjoy. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Jan 11, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium off-white head. Creamy coffee aroma with some chocolate. Flavors of coffee, cream and chocolate with a bitter finish. Outstanding stuff. BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 9, 2009 Brewed in the USA.... Pours a med-brown color with a thin dissipating white head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and mild chocolate. Taste is of bitter coffee, hops, and a slight hint of toffee. The mouthfeel is thin and finishes with a slightly dry burnt feeling to it. Not bad, but warning if you don’t like the bitter coffee taste, dont even bother. timfoolery (482), California, USA Jan 5, 2009 Bottle from BevMo in Vacaville, CA. This brew was a slight bit sour, I am guessing due to the coffee infusion process. It was also nutty with smoke notes. It was a little light for my palate. Ok beer. Oscbert (531), Sacramento, California, USA Dec 31, 2008 ~Pours a light dark mahogany color with big creamy brown head.
~Roasted malt aroma with coffee, dark chocolate, and licorice.
~Very bittersweet prune like flavor. Some chocolate and coffee in there as well.
~Thick feel, a bit sticky with bittersweet finish.
~I was expecting more from this. The strange bitterness irks me a bit. Takes a bit to get used to it and then became more enjoyable.
