Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Dec 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a brown body with a creamy off white head. Big roasty nose, sweet and malty, light alcohol with vanilla and lots of coffee in the finish. Great. dsagoas (9), , Washington, USA does not count Dec 13, 2008 Was expecting a stronger aroma. Poured dark black as expected, head maintained even after a couple minutes. Flavor was roasted, but as strong as I was expecting. Not saying that is a good or a bad thing, probably made it more drinkable but less unique. On the palate, it was thinner then I was expecting, the sweetness didnt linger too long, which was nice. Overall, pretty good. One of the better Lagunitas beers I think. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Dec 13, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. It’s aight. Thin body to be sure. Coffee…it definitely tried to wake Jakebra up. It may have succeeded. Not black enough for me. I like my coffee like I like my women: hot and strong, with a spoon in them. This is none of those. Luckily I like my beer different than coffee and women. But it still misses out on awesomeness. But it has moments of veryniceness. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Dec 12, 2008 Pours a clear deep brown color with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted nuts and malt. Flavor is sweet and not as good as the aroma. Very thin on the palate. Good, but I would probably pass on buying it in the future. durhambeer (1188), Durham, USA Dec 8, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown pour; lighter than expected. Thin off-white head, and a thin body for a stout. Smells super sweet and creamy. Coffee flavor/aroma was milder than expected. More of a milk chocolate/toffee/nutty malt profile. Some mild fruit as well. Too sweet for me overall.
sja14 (105), Ohio, USA Dec 7, 2008 Dark mahogany/brown with creamy off-white head. Sweet chocolate flavor with a very slight hint of coffee. Masks the 8.3% ABV well. FriarHop (31), Long Beach, New York, USA Dec 6, 2008 Updated: Dec 14, 2008Bottle. Pours dark, black brown. Hardly a head a all, thin lacing. Aroma is fresh ground coffee, chocolate and woody. The flavor is dense and sweet. I love this stout. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Dec 6, 2008 black color, tiny tan bubbles, nice lacing. mild aroma of chocolate. the flavor is mostly chocolate, a slight creaminess, but nothing special or complex. medium bodied, sweet, dry finish. totally unexciting offering. i do not even detect the 8.3 abv. kind of a waste, actually. i will just have to keep drinking the whole bomber to see if i can find the alcohol. i got this beer at binnys beverage depot in orland park.
