Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 26, 2008 Big coffee smell and big coffee taste. Amazed I like this one so much considering I don’t like coffee. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA Oct 25, 2008 Poured from bomber a dark brown with medium-sized tan head. Aroma is powdered cocoa, dark fruit, roast grain, and coffee. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate, dark roasted coffee, some dark plum, yeast, and a mild graininess. The palate is mildly tart and sweet with a slight alcohol warmth. Easy to drink, so nice flavors, good but not great. I’d buy it again. jrmac (210), USA Oct 25, 2008 Pours thin, light brown color, with virtually no head. Nose is coffee, malt, and alcohol. Taste is like a weird artificial coffee flavor. I can’t say I’d pick this up again. Not enough body for a stout, but it still has grown on me a bit. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 23, 2008 Pours a thin light brown with a fizzy light tan head. The nose is sweet, roasty, mild coffee character, mothballs?, strange phenolic character. The flavor is roasty, a tad sweet, bittersweet chocolate, light alcoho, some waxyness, molasses. The palate is bitter and chocolaty. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 22, 2008 Incredible nose of dark roasted coffee beans, brown sugar, and caramel. Very thin, dark brown not even close to black with a 1/2 inch latte head. Flavorful; bold cappaccino, malty sweetness, and even a little nuttiness. The 8.3% ABV is invisible. Enjoyable brew @ a great price...give it a try!!! PolakPorter (82), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 21, 2008 It’s true that it doesn’t have an overwhelming coffee flavor. BUT IT’S BEER!! Coffee is present, but so are the essence of dark fruits and chocolate. The Body is a tad thin for an imperial stout, and it loses a few points because of that. But pour it down the drain??? Are you f*cking crazy??? Sure, it’s not the best stout of all time...but for $3.79 a bomber, I certainly cannot complain. Instead, I’m heading out to buy more. Thanks Lagunitas! Aquilo (249), California, USA Oct 20, 2008 Pours dark red-amber, almost black. Thin tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, fig and almond. Very nice. And it had a BIG flavor. Very fruity and nutty. I can taste everything from cherries, figs, raisins, almonds, chocolate, and yes, some espresso in there as well. Velvety full body. I really like this beer, and I’m surprised by some of the low ratings I’m seeing here. Maybe I just got a really good batch, but to me this beer is wonderful. MrDick (277), San Francisco, California, USA Oct 19, 2008 Pours a deep brown amber with slight mocha colored head. Lots of coffee flavor with chocolate bits. Lacks the body of a stout. If you like coffee, you’ll like this beer. But if you’re looking for a stout with coffee flavors, you’ll probably want to skip this one.
