danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Sep 22, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle. Beautiful stout color with a thick creamy head. Not much to the nose, would expect the coffee to come through. Very malty flavors, overly dry. Disappointing , too dry, I didn’t pick up any coffee flavors. Perhaps I’ll give it a try again down the road. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Sep 20, 2008 Dark brown. Rich aroma is chocolatey, lightly coffeeish. Very coffeeish taste. Thick, rich malt, slight alcohol. Sort of stings with harshly-extracted espresso. Lubiere (4464), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 19, 2008 A dark clear brown stout with a thick moka head. A pleasant moka vanillla aroma with coffee grind and ash. In mouth, a sweetish nutty stout, with light coffee, a bit powdery, good hops bitterness with light grapefruit. Medium bodied. Bottle is about one year old. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Sep 18, 2008 Deep dark brown. Almost opaque. Reddish tint like black coffee with thick coffee-colored head. Bourbon in the clean stout aroma. Silky mouthfeel. Mild, fairly thin. Some sweetness, rendering this a fairly accurate rendition of a mediocre cappuccino. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Sep 17, 2008 Bottle from late 2006. Black with a tight tan head. Roasted malt aroma with cafe’ mocha. medium body. Rich hearty flavors of blackened malts with coffee cream and cocoa. Very good stout here. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Sep 17, 2008 Thanks to Hellbilly for this bottle. Vintage November 2007. Dark brown pour with thick khaki colored head and drippy lace. Caramelized sugar and coffee on the nose. Medium bodied. Flavor dominated by chocolate malts, cream, and coffee sistinas (60), Tempe, Arizona, USA Sep 7, 2008 Pours dark, dark brown (almost black) with a small, quickly dissipating head. Aroma is of vanilla, brown sugar, dark-roasted coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is similar with more chocolate than coffee, a fair amount of sweetness, light malts, and a slight bitter note. Mouthfeel is very, very smooth with a pretty dry finish. The flavor is not overly complex but the beer itself is extremely drinkable. I dig it. JCastner (102), New York, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours a jet black with little head. Aroma is of chocolate, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar and roasted coffee beans. Heavy mouthfeel. Taste is of strong coffee with little bitterness in the finish. I’d like to see some stronger hop characteristics with this one. This is quite one dimensional. It’s not one of my favorites.
