(220408) Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 26, 2008 Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits Wednesday evening beer tasting, and shared by BDR. From a 22-oz bomber pours an opaque dark brown brew with some red highlights that generates a thick tan head that slowly dissipates to a thin tan head. Aroma of toasted dark malt, coffee, some black licorice and chocolate. Taste is medium to full bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of mostly coffee, toasted dark malt, some vanilla and a touch of roasted nuts. Finish is semi-dry, with a toasted dark malt and coffee aftertaste that slowly lingers away. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA May 25, 2008 Bomber on 5/24/2008. Deep, brilliant ruby body under a light tan head that settles to a thin ring slowly, leaving some excellent lace behind. No mistaking the coffee aroma, but there is also some bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and roasted nuts as well. Medium/full body, light carbonation, and a dry, mildly astringent palate.
Dark brown sugar starts off, quickly succumbing to the bitterness of roasted malt and some earthy hops for a nicely dry finish. This one is easy to drink, and quite satisfying. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada May 25, 2008 Aroma is full on roast coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice, black, pours a foamy tan head, some pretty lace too. Flavour has strong coffee notes, dark chocolate and some brazil nuts. Full bodied, very well balanced, bitter and soothing. Great example!
