Opaque black with a small head that endures well and leaves nice creamy frosting on the glass. Aroma is mocha - milk, chocolate, and coffee. Flavors of dried hickory, cocoa, coffee, and then some green herb, ozone, and char on the finish. Heavy body is creamy and slightly watery, with a tingle on the dryish finish. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Pours into the snifter an opaque dark brown, almost black color. Produces a handsome 2" thick and dense tan head with superb foam retention throughout the entire glass. Some spotty lacing adheres to the sides. Aromas were pleasant but quite tame with faint notes of burnt malts, espresso coffee, licorice, dark chocolate and a touch of vanilla bean. Mouthfeel was just a touch too fizzy and thin for an Impy Stout. Could have been a bit thicker and fuller for sure. Flavors came through more agressively than the aromas. Unsweetened baker’s cocoa, dark roasted malts and freshly gound espresso initially dominate the flavor profile. Some trace flavors of licorice, anise, vanilla and charred wood linger in the background. Finishes with a tad of alcohol warmth and a charcoal-like dryness. Overall a solid coffee-Impy Stout but certainly not in the league of say an Alesmith Speedway Hollywoodt (174), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Poured a deep, dark brown with a minimal off-white head. Aroma was malty with a little bit of coffee. The flavor was very light on the coffee, with a creamy mouth feel to it. Not what I had hoped for when reading the label. This needs more coffee. dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Sweetness in the nose with a bit of raisin and espresso. Body follows similarly with some wine-like cherry tastes, bright acidity and a long finish. The highlight here for me is the mouthfeel; it is creamy, sweet but also has a slightly bitter bite. Yum. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Decided to have some fun and do a side by side tasting with Southern Tier’s Jah-Va stout. Why not. Pours black with a lighter tan head. Nice lacing. Smells bitter with coffee and hops with a little bit of roastiness. Flavor not as intense as I expected. Watery, creamy and flat. Bitter finish that doesn’t linger long. Not very impressed. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 4, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown body, medium tan head, roasted barley nose. Coffee flavors, slight sour note, mild, especially considering the ABV. Has a slightly creamy quality. HomeBrewHawk (269), De Soto, Kansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 3, 2008 22oz brown bottle served in a shaker pint. Poured a deep brown/black with one finger of off white head. Coffee and cocoa in the aroma. Big coffee flavor dominates. Medium bodied. There is some hop bitterness in the middle. Kind of a one dimensional beer. The base beer didn’t come through very much. rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2008 Bottle. Dark amber color, creamy brown head. Sweetish coffee aroma, choclate, milky, some vanilla and some grassy, metallic hops. Coffee flavor (surprise!!!), chocolate, mint, cocoa and some milk. Very mild and pleasant stout with alcohol well hidden.
