WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 7, 2008 Another winner from a brewery that has yet to disappoint me. Exactly what I expected, a nice stout that is loaded with coffee. Got some body to it, but not too thick, and the taste doesnt hold back. If I am only going to have one beer to relax, this is a good choice. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Jan 5, 2008 Perfect stout appearance, black body and a thick off-white bumpy head. Aroma of roasted coffee beans and an unexpected Belgian candy sugar note; grape like in nose. Very unique flavor...the first thing to hit me was a warm, salty taste followed closely by almost burnt malt. Good and hearty though, with a solid mouthfeel. I’m not sure if the salt flavor should be there, but it’s an odd addition to an otherwise good stout. djd07 (724), Houston, Texas, USA Jan 5, 2008 On tap at Flying Saucer. Has a very dark brown color with a medium tan head. The aroma is a strong coffee and dark chocolate. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is of course a strong coffee with a sweet finish. GMUcrew7 (353), Mason, Ohio, USA Jan 4, 2008 bottle, pours deep amber brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is mostly malty and coffee, but not as strong as I anticipated. Flavor is mostly malt and coffee, with a hint of dark fruits at the finish. Lighter flavor and body than expected, but not a bad beer. Charlzm (247), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 4, 2008 Updated: Jan 8, 2008Bottled, consumed on 01/04/08. Dark brown transparent pour from bottle somehow becomes VERY dark brown liquid with a dense tan head that lasts a long time in a glass. Aromas of cherries and chocolate. Soft mouthfeel: a bit thin. Flavor is less intense than expected; some mildly bitter coffee and vaguely sweet fruits. Finish is clean and light with almost no residual flavor save for the ghost of malty chocolate. Nice but far from essential. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Jan 4, 2008 Pours near black with a ruby tint and a substantial, creamy beige head. The aroma is pungent coffee and milk with bright citric hops. The nose is muted compared to the flavour, but its hoppy enough to sting the nostrils. Very rich coffee flavour that tastes authentic and plenty of hops balancing and giving the mid-palate flavour more bitterness. There are notes of dried dark fruit and in the finish, burnt coffee and milky sweetness. The body is a tad on the thin side, but the soft, yet tingly carbonation and creamy finish make up mostly for the lack of body. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2008 Poured an extremely deep mahogany red color body with a decent sized beige frothy head. The aroma was strong coffee and cream. Flavor was the same strong coffee with a little bit of burnt malts present and a dry finish. A little more body wouldn’t hurt this stout. littlecarp (128), Redding, California, USA Jan 3, 2008 Not bad at all. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nice lacing on the side of glass. Aroma is a bit hoppy...not the coffee I was anticipating. Flavor is sweet, bitter and has a wonderful coffee finish. Toward the end of the glass it has a nice heavy weight, that leaves bitterness on the tongue. Very happy with this beer.
