bomber into improper glassware (9.2 ABV with no visible date) - nose is roast and borderline burnt coffee with sweetening chocolate or lactose. Sip adds strong coffee notes and booze. Gritty yet somewhat smooth. I just want to drink it all right now. Light to medium body, really? I think so.

Bomber->nonic. Deep brown with huge longlasting creamy tan head. A: somewhat faint, with coffee grounds, malt, chocolate. T: bitter coffee and roasted malt. Distinct metallic notes. Drying, with an unpleasant bitter coffee aftertaste. Not a fan.

Bottle poured into a Belgian snifter. Bottled 1/18/2014, 9.2% ABV. Pours a cola brownish black with about a finger of light tan head. Aromas of sweet/burnt/roasty coffee dominate the nose, a bit of dark chocolate. Tasting notes of burnt roasty coffee, dark chocolate, bits of caramel. Very smooth for 9.2% ABV. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Pretty tasty imperial stout with lots of coffee on the nose and taste.

Bomber from Holmes. Not much coffee at all. Finishes a little hoppy for me.

Really enjoyed this beer. Coffee and light chocolate aroma. Taste is bitter and sweet coffee right at the start, finishes with some chocolate and malty flavors. Delicious beer and for the price, amazing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into a snifter out of a 22oz bomber.
Pours pitch black with a half finger medium tan head. Surprisingly decent head retention and lacing for a beer of this strength.
Aroma comes off as sweet with almost a bit of a soy sauce character. I can definitely notice the coffee but it is tucked away in the background. Caramel and brown sugar are there as well with some milk chocolate.
Coffee is more prominent in the flavor but that same funky soy/worcestershire sauce note is there. Dark caramel and a touch of dark, dried fruit along with a lighter bitterness. Sweetness is moderate to high leading to a sticky finish but the alcohol is very well hidden.
Overall, this is not one of the better coffee stouts out there but for the price and abv, it is hard to go wrong with is one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 9.2%. Pours brown with fine tan head, settles in minutes with moderate lacing. Aroma is coffee, roasted, toasted malts, fairly sweet, chocolate. Tastes sweet, fruity, fading into a chocolate, coffee, roasted finish. Coffee flavor is mild, unlike most coffee stouts, could have bigger coffee character. More coffee as it warms. Glad to find a Lagunitas beer that wasn’t overpowered by hops. Soft carbonation, medium body, and smooth texture.

2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bottle. Pours a nice brownish-black color with a very lightly-colored head. Aroma is very faint. The mouth-feel is thinner than I expected. Overall I feel the beer is very lacking in flavor. I expected it to be a lot more complex.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Excellent coffee and chocolate aroma with just a hint of alcohol smell. Sweet but not too sweet chocolate flavor with coffee on the back end. At $4.50 for a 22oz bottle and 9.2% abv, this is probably the best beer for the money I've had.
