jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Nov 16, 2007 ’07 bottle labeled 8.3%abv. Pours fairly dark brown with a moderate tan head. Aromas of fresh ground coffee, lactic sugars, a nice woody undertone, and perfumed accents (probably the hops). Lots of black coffee and dark chocolate up front, followed by some creamy lactic notes and very subtle bitterness, but overall a bit light. Palate is medium/full, slightly sharp carbonation, and a bit oily/sticky, with a fairly long finish. Killer for the price, but a bit light in flavor for my expectations. darn1207 (529), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Nov 16, 2007 Updated: Dec 3, 2007beautiful pour. medium to large cream tan head. dark dark brown color with a little red tint to it. nose of coffee and a bit of citrus. great texture. tastes like a big frosty glass of alcoholic cocoa... in a good way. I’m becoming a big Lagunitas fan. darbish (81), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 14, 2007 A very delicious beer. Don’t be scared off by the "cappuccino" name, it tastes like coffee but only for the first sip or two. Otherwise, it’s a pretty mild coffee flavor. Smells malty and coffe-ish, and is reminiscent of a porter. Very good, very good! redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Nov 13, 2007 My bottle says 8.3 ABV doesn’t smell like 8.3% abv! Smooth coffee flavor, roasted malts, dark malts, licorrice, molasses and caramely! Very smooth coffee stout. alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Nov 11, 2007 22 oz. bottle. Pours black with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, some coffee, and light chocolate with a hint of hops. The Flavor has coffee and roasted malts. Nothing that really stands out, just decent. Maybe a little thin for my tastes. HopHeadinAZ (120), USA Oct 15, 2007 22oz Bottle: Pours a dark brown with a fine tan head. The nose is subtle but driven by chocolate tones. Chocolate drives the taste but the finish is slightly bitter with a hint of dark coffee or espresso. The palate is thinner than I would expect but also soft and velvety. Overall a nice beer that hides the alcohol well and makes for a nice desert beer. Crit (2399), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Oct 10, 2007 Dark brown, small lasting tan head.Sweet chocolate nose. Flavor of coffee, espresso, sweet malt, well blended arjoseph (594), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 10, 2007 Fluffy fizzy beige head, dissipating to a dusting; dark black ruby in the glass. Produces a dense, clingy lace. Smells burnt and roasty at first, then like wet coffee grounds. Fizzy prickle fills the mouth on the first sip. Roasty flavors encompass some dry chocolate lurking underneath; there’s lots of flavor on the somewhat thinish body.
