mhot55 (99), USA Sep 9, 2007 I was a little disappointed. I was expecting a sweet stout here, even a nice full coffee taste. I mean "cappaccino" is in the name. the only coffee quality it has is the bitter roasted taste of espresso. appearance is more towards a deep dark brown instead of black. aroma is as a stout should be. don’t get me wrong, this beer tastes good- rich roasted flavor. the alcohol really comes out on this and overtakes any sweetness. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA Sep 8, 2007 22oz bomber shared with a friend. black brew with a small tan head. Mlaty cholate aroma with a bit of coffee. flavor is bitter with choclate, but has a nice amount of maltiness. the cofee is suprisingly mild for somethign called a cappicino stout, but adds soem nice notes. well balenced and drinkable. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: Jan 12, 2008Date: 01/21/2006

black, big tan head, nice lace,
big roasted coffee aroma,
creamy body,
lots of coffee flavor, low bitterness, nice chocolate comes from behind and adds some richness, slightly sweet creamy character mixed with the coffee makes for a great coffee with cream

aroma is subdued but may be too cold, warming helps the aroma a bit but really brings out the roasted and coffee in the flavor, turns into a great creamy cup of coffee

coffee and chocolate are in great balance, great roasted coffee character but it does not take over the base beer

fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Aug 30, 2007 12 oz bottle shared with padrefan98. Black with not much head. Aromas were a little weak. Roasty aromas, and maybe some chocolate. Pretty bitter on the finish. Bitter chocolate with black coffee. Some porter flavors actually. Cappachino actually, ya I can taste that. Pretty good. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Aug 19, 2007 22 ounce bottle from Table and Vine in Northampton, MA (January 2007) consumed at cellar temperature from a Corsendonk Christmas Ale glass. Faint light trickles through the inky blackness, which is topped by a smallish receding tan head that leaves a thin film as it dies.....there is coffee in the nose, yes, but it’s surprisingly sweet with vanilla and chocolate dominating, mellow and not aggressive at all; faint hints of thyme and orange also appear....the body is also largely sweet at first, but a big jolt of espresso bitterness does show up quickly amidst the milk chocolate swirls, and mixes effortlessly to form a beautifully balanced bitter/dry, sweet/soft & velvety texture....carbonation is moderate and prickly, the fresh java bitterness continues forever; if anything it’s a bit too rough and perhaps a tad oily at the finish.....a solid effort, one of the best from this brewery. davidflores99 (225), Long Beach, California, USA Aug 17, 2007 Poured dark with little head. Strong coffee, malty aroma. Flavor was pretty strong, a little bitter with a strong coffee finish. I enjoyed this one and would like to get some again. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Aug 10, 2007 Bomber opened on 6/22/07 and finished on 6/23/07 Lagunitas is pretty impressive with their carbonation for it being forced carbonation in a filtered beer. Extremely large, cappucino colored head cascades in to a dark caramel folded in to ebony body. Medium to medium-high clarity with strong retention and light lacing. Sticky chocolate and coffee layered atop vanilla and dry, green, juicy hoppiness. Bitter and with definite resinous notes, but for some reason I dont think it goes too far, nor does it contrast too heavily with the dark malts. Probably because there’s a good deal of sticky caramel; much more than in usual stouts. The coffee is actually quite tasteefully done and leaves room for the malts. Daresay it’s got a soothing, almost silky texture. Sweetness, for a Lagunitas beer, is particularly under control and in a total sense probably medium sweet. Low carbonation as well. Molasses dots the flavor profile throughout, with sweet vanilla and chocolate. Scorched coffee on the finish somewhat detracts, but it’s minimal. One of the better beers from Lagunitas, IMHO. Alcohol very well-concealed. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 9, 2007 Nose is malty and full of dark coffee with some detectable hops as well. Lagunitas beers have a signature smell to me. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Nice coffee flavor. Dry and roasty with a small amount of detectable pine hops and some alcohol. Not very bubbly, but more so smooth. Not as heavy in body as alot of stouts. Nice and drinkable with a pleasant warming effect. This would make an awesome winter warmer.
