Rating 2900. This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation dark brown colored body. The nice aroma was malty and coffee. semi-flat smooth . The nice flavor contained notes of malt dark malt brown malt and coffee. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

draft @ BSP some months ago. Somewhat underwhelming, I remember. Coffee character seemed to come through more as bitterness than chocolate, like terrapin wake and bake. a lack of sweetness made it unique, but somewhat unenjoyable for this style of beer. Of course it was jet black, brown head, etc, etc...

Pours out a clear dark brown color wish a creamy head. Aroma is of coffee and chocolate with some malt. The flavor is not too sweet and a little more bitter than expected. Beer is more carbonated than needed. Overall, the beer is above average and one that’s very drinkable.

Thick pour. Small head. Low carbonation. Great complex malliard aroma, roasty, tannin, sweet. Good complexity with low hop bitterness. Subtle coffee flavors, not over the top at all. Nice higher alcohol hidden well by all of the malt flavors.

Limited Release bottle. Medium sized tan head that was mostly lasting, limited amount of lacing, transparent, black hue, and visible carbonation. Nose was malty, roasty, chocolate, coffee, and hoppy. Ditto for the flavor, ABV was fairly well hidden and a dry finish. Smooth, dry mouthfeel. Medium body. Nicely done, tasty and worthy of a try.

Bottle sampled. Pours black in color with a nice 2 finger tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. Taste just like it smells, full of deep coffee and chocolate flavors with a clean a smooth finish. A very good stout.

It’s black, it’s opaque and has a long holding creamy, off-white head. The coffee part of it is done just right. My first reaction was: sweet and a little thin. Subsequent swallows made me a fan, mouth-coating with a mellow aftertaste. I thought the hops were well balanced and was surprised to see the IBU’s came in at only 29.5. It was smooth enough to be a session beer, but the 7.99% ABV short circuited that plan. Fortuneately (?) the bomber bottle satiated me. I’ll be back for seconds on another day.

Black color; creamy head; nice lace. Aroma and taste show a good malt and caramel, with some delicate coffee/roasted malt; good mouthfeel; well mixed together; good hopping. Very good.
