hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA Jun 5, 2007 Dark brown, not quite black with a big tan head. Lots of coffee in the nose, of course. Throw in some chocolate and a bit of fruitiness. The flvour is pretty good, roast and toast, coffee, chocolate, bitterness and a undertone of alcohol. joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA May 24, 2007 22oz. Bomber

Cappuccino Stout poured a deep dark mahogany. As close to black as you can get. Completely opaque. Glows with mahogany highlights when held to the light. A 1 finger creamy head appeared on the pour and faded to a creamy tan cap.
Smell is pretty complex. There’s a bitter chocolate character that’s followed by currants and some dark fruit. Maybe bing cherries make up my mind. Bringing up the rear is strong black coffee but it’s mild. Along with a sprinkling of booze.
I like the taste on this one quite a bit. It seems like I’m getting different flavors with each sip. The first sip will be deeply toasted grains with a healthy dose of brown sugar. This is followed by a slight nuttiness, a sprinkling of the dark fruit, and then the bitterness of the coffee. The next sip has those same components in the same order but alcohol vapors show up about mid-palate and follow through to the finish. It changes the whole complexity. This just keeps flip-flopping. Very nice.
I really like the mouthfeel on this one. Has a medium bodied but it’s somewhat airy. Goes down really smoothly and leaves a nice coffee bitterness until the next swig.
Drinkability is good. I really enjoy a good stout but very rarely find the drinkability super high. That being said I can easily finish off this bomber but that’ll be all.
This was a pleasant surprise. I expected something decent but this was a good well made complex stout. I wouldn’t hesitate in picking this up again.
Note: According to the bottle this is a limited release.
12/19/06 mlist55 (210), media, Pennsylvania, USA May 23, 2007 Lovely foamy head on this beer poured from a bottle. Wonderful malt aroma. Glass lacing niceley as I drink. Very rich malt flavor with a hint of coffee. The taste of alcohol is well hidden here. The finish is of rich malt with a touch of bitterness.
allfreej (358), Louisville, Kentucky, USA May 19, 2007 On cask at Rustico, Alexandria, Virginia. Dark brown pour, with a foamy, tan head. Not much nose. Flavor is coffee and smoke, with a nicely hoppy finish and a wonderful soft mouthfeel, though I’m sure that the fact it was on cask had a lot to do with that. brianjames1 (322), Northridge, California, USA May 18, 2007 good dark tasty stout, rich, full of body, very well balanced, hints of coffee, not bad...above average frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA May 16, 2007 Not very dark, this is more of a cola-brown bodied beer under a large, sudsy tan head. Aroma starts underwhelmingly with some dark fruit & roasted malt. Alcohol comes out late, and finally so too do some nice coffee notes. Full & tingly in the mouth. Coffee flavor is more intense than I’d assumed from the aroma, and adds an interesting roasty bitterness to a sweet, fruity, malted base. Would be better if it were smoother/less carbonated.

Black body, with a good fingers worth of beige head. Muted, lightly roasty aroma with a light hing of coffee. Similarflavour, fairly bitter overall with some sweet malt, and mild roast. Smooth medium palate is quite nice. (3+)
