TampaBrew (726), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 26, 2009 Pours deep brown/amber. Lots of roasty coffee in the nose. Taste is sweet sugars, caramel, toffee and loads of coffee. Smooth finish. I made a ice cream float with this once. Awesome. kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 26, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Tampa Tasting Group -- Part of a blind coffee tasting. Pours a dark brown to black with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of roast coffee, vanilla, caramel, honey, some slight spice. Flavor is sweet and creamy with notes of coffee, chocolate, roast, hints of smoke and vanilla. Generally medium to full body with a pleasing coffee finish. kennydiaz (182), staten island, New York, USA Apr 20, 2009 Pours a dark black with a mild creamy head. Strong coffee overtones with a hint of vanilla and caramel. Overall an excellent beer and with its mild price tag I will buy this one again. Moosington (28), Costa Mesa, California, USA Apr 16, 2009 Pours a nice dark opaque amber/brown with a small head the diminishes to a ring that leaves subtle lacing. Aroma dominated by coffee as expected, but nice notes of toffee and chocolate. Flavor is again coffee dominated, but there was more malty sweetness and smokey chocolate in the finish than I expected, though I definitely liked it. The malt sticks around for just a touch after swallowing, too. As mentioned before, this is very much a dry stout finish, not too heavy a mouthfeel. Overall a solid outing, even if a little on the lighter side. arondee (173), Tucson, Arizona, USA Apr 11, 2009 Dark thick pour with a small head. Aroma is coffee and roasted chocolate. Flavor is a lot like a good porter, thick dark chocolate, lots of coffee, malty and milky. Fairly sweet fairly bitter. Good beer. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 9, 2009 bottle, sampeld 1/21/07.
Bottle presentation from Lagunitas is, as usual, amusing. Pours a muted dark mahogany color, thin light head that clears quick but leaves some generous lacing as it goes. Aroma is coffee-forward, with plenty of smooth creamy coffee backed up by some dark roasted notes and some light cocoa. Flavor is very well balanced for a coffee stout, with plenty of coffee and just enough malt sweetness to provide the milk and sugar. Some very light booze notes show up in the back of the flavor. Mouthfeel is is clean and light, close to a light dry irish stout. Very clean, with little on the finish. Overall a surprisingly good coffee stout. LearninBeer (194), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Mar 29, 2009 Pours a golden brown, with a light brown head, fully diminishing, nice lacing. The aroma is malts, coffee and a roasted nuttiness. The flavor creamy, sweet coffee and a little bitter.
