Very mild aroma with a hoppy flavor. Unusual to taste so much hops off a stout but it makes for a very interesting drink. A very pleasant drink on Xmas eve, something old world and Tolkien-esque about it. Not sure if old school Stout drinkers would like it but definitely worth trying and at 9.2% it will warm your cockles on any winters night.

For $4 a bomber. Aroma of chocolate and burnt roasted malts, taste is dark chocolate, coffee, some bitterness, not sweet, a beer I would easily drink again.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber to snifter (shared with cards04). Looks good; a lightly translucent very dark amberish brown with foamy light beige head. Smells of dark malt, coffee, and roast. Tastes like it smells, but the cappuccino comes through. Bittersweet (from the roast) with a medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

A really nice stout.. Thanks b3shine for sharing this. Pours black with wispy mocha head. Very attractive. Aromas are vanilla and coffee. Very balanced stout. Not coffee heavy. You get coffee, but also lactose and vanilla. You get the whole cappuccino effect with this. Very nice.

Pours black with ruby tint around the edges of the glass and a thick creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma with coffee and chocolate. Nice creamy mouthfeel with some light bubbles. Flavor is creamy sweet caramel, roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee. Finishing with a dark coffee roastiness. Fantastic.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber. Pours almost pitch black with an off white and tanish head. Aroma of coffee and hops maybe light roasted marshmallow? Coffee and booziness dominate the taste with a little dark chocolate. Booziness over powered the coffee/cappuccino to me or else it would?ve been a lot better. Overall good but far from great.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a bomber into a tulip on 05.06.14.
A: Midnight black with some red at the bottom. The tan head quickly recedes leaving some nice lacing.
S: Caramel, chocolate, coffee, toffee. Sweet smelling.
T: Raisins, coffee, caramel, toffee. A slight roastiness is there too on the back end.
M: Velvety smooth. Some crisp bubbles on the back end.
O: This was a nice dessert. The alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight burn in the throat. The coffee is not overpowering. It adds a nice roastiness to the sweetness. Usually, I don’t like coffee, so I was surprised by how much I liked this one. This is a fantastic stout. At $4.50 a bomber, it is a steal.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma: Coffee followed by strong chocolate, char.
Appearance: Pours dark brown, almost black. Thick, creamy, coffee/mocha colored, two-finger head that disappeared slowly. Thin lacing.
Taste: Dark chocolate with coffee taste finish. Very light carbonation. Drinks thinner than the 9% ABV. Fruit flavor undertones; raisins, vanilla.
Palate: Smooth. Silky.
Overall: I had this on draft (nitro) at Quench Tap Bar. Very, very good beer. Lagunitas has made a high quality coffee stout. RateBeer member slowrunner77 probably summed it up best, "One of Lagunitas’ best non-hoppy beers. the body is just a touch thin, especially for 8% (sic), but it’s pretty smooth."...yeah, real, real smooth. #respectbeerbrethren.
