Dark auburn color, small head, adequate lacing. Nose of soy, chocolate & loads of soft roasted coffee. Nose maltiness with light bitter coffee notes, roast & fruity melon. Good complex stout, a bit lacking in the darker roast but is compensated by the hardcore coffee.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an average light brown head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Moderate aroma of malt and coffee. Medium body with a slick texture. Good flavor with small dry bitter finish. Good non-standard stout.

Bottle. Pours a black color with longlasting creamy tan head. Roasted malty aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. Sweet roasted malty bitter chocolate coffee flavor. Sweet roasted finish with a bitter aftertaste.

Black with a lasting tan head. Really strong coffee aroma which isn’t entirely pleasant - has a note of sour, cold coffee. Caramel and dark malt is noticed in the background of the aroma. Flavour is dry, and also dominated by cold coffee, maybe even cold espresso, and with a lot of alcohol. Too much coffee, not enough stout. Cellaring might make it less harsh, but I doubt this beer will ever make me happy.

Thanks to the BeerCellar for this as part of Secret Santa. Pours deep brownish ruby, looking blacisk thru non direct light. Heavy dark patent roasty malty aroma, plus some chocoff, molasses, slight anise. Tastes roasty malty, with a heavy cappuccino and dark chocolate flavor, a medium to dense palate, and a crisp finish. Very nice.

A dark clear brown stout with a thick moka head. A pleasant moka vanillla aroma with coffee grind and ash. In mouth, a sweetish nutty stout, with light coffee, a bit powdery, good hops bitterness with light grapefruit. Medium bodied. Bottle is about one year old.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (coffee, roasted grain, chocolate), moderately hoppy (resin, apricot). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Was hoping for a little more malt richness and less PNW hop aroma, but this is still a delightful roasty stout.

22 ounce bottle from Table and Vine in Northampton, MA (January 2007) consumed at cellar temperature from a Corsendonk Christmas Ale glass. Faint light trickles through the inky blackness, which is topped by a smallish receding tan head that leaves a thin film as it dies.....there is coffee in the nose, yes, but it’s surprisingly sweet with vanilla and chocolate dominating, mellow and not aggressive at all; faint hints of thyme and orange also appear....the body is also largely sweet at first, but a big jolt of espresso bitterness does show up quickly amidst the milk chocolate swirls, and mixes effortlessly to form a beautifully balanced bitter/dry, sweet/soft & velvety texture....carbonation is moderate and prickly, the fresh java bitterness continues forever; if anything it’s a bit too rough and perhaps a tad oily at the finish.....a solid effort, one of the best from this brewery.
