Elizavyeta (104), Minnesota, USA Jan 27, 2008 Dark brown with a thin white head has a strong aroma of maple and malt.
Cappuccino and chocolate meld together for a fantastically dense and dark brew with a long, bitter finish like that of a nice cup of coffee.
Due to the strength of this beer, serve it along side a flourless chocolate cake or perhaps a nice steak.
bconley (40), Fern Park, Florida, USA Oct 7, 2008 Right up my alley. Pours dark and beautiful brown. Tastes very sweet, with hints of toffee thats not completely overshadowed by the awesome flavor of the coffee. I little thinner than I expected..but I like....should be made year-round
drjay44 (160), Colorado, USA Oct 4, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a mocha colored head, with minimal retention and some lacing over a reddish brown body.... nose of cocoa, mild coffee, bit of yeast....tastes initially of malt sweetness, evolving to toffee, then roasted flavors, and a bitter finish, that is partially hops and partially old coffee. Mouth feel is pleasant, but the finishing flavors are off putting.
I am coming to the opinion that coffee flavors should come from the roasting of the malts and not the bean. Mes_and_Sim (4476), Highgate, Greater London, England Oct 1, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle thanks to my good mate Duff McShane. Supped up on Primrose HIll with Sim and Pauline. Black body with a good creamy beige head. Big ass coffee aroma with loads of caramel some vanilla and slight alcoholic notes. More oatmeal than cappucino in the mouth. Milky cocoa, quite powdery and lots more oatmeal plus a faint bitterness in the finish. Collint (347), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Sep 30, 2008 Bottle, pours a dark brown beer with a thin off tan head. aroma is light and malty. Flavor is light coffee, i expected more. SamGamgee (585), Santa Cruz, California, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bomber. Super dark red, too-light beige head. Too clear. Vegetal, chive and rancid coffee aroma. The flavor is mostly semi-sweet, stale coffee; not awful in itself, but the aroma pretty much kills it. Now I’m wishing that I had poured this into a wider mouthed glass, as it might have been somewhat drinkable. Quite light bodied, but nice carbonation. This is a borderline drain-pour. Doesn’t really taste infected from my experience, but something is not right with this beer.
