djrn (37), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA Apr 14, 2008 I loved this beer. A deep dark pour and a great coffee aroma. Sweet malt and a ton of coffee. Just what I wanted.
KnN (320), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Oct 12, 2008 For a coffee beer this tasted surprisingly little like coffee. Poured a nice deep brown with tan head. Aroma was roasted malt, maybe a little coffee. Some oxidization and penny aroma. Flavor was fairly uninspiring. This one turned into a drain pour after about 3 sips. Ah well. they can’t all be winners. Derek881 (349), Frederick, Maryland, USA Oct 11, 2008 Drank poured into a pint glass from the bottle. A hefty malted, roasty coffee aroma with some accompanying notes of chocolate and caramel; some light earthy hops too. Dark brown color with an amber tint, with a very small, bubbly, off-white head that had short retention. Fairly potent coffee taste is definitely present, also a touch of chocolate. Sweet in nature, with some underlying and finishing bitterness. Wet and watery on the palate, with a very full effect and lower carbonation; mostly smooth and fluid. I am not much of a coffee-drinker, but liked this beer fairly well. highibus (271), Vail, Arizona, USA Oct 11, 2008 a little light on the color for a stout. but a decent tan head. nice coffee aroma nd flvor. good flavor but a little light. joeymacaroni (142), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bomber from State Line. Pours dark toffee brown. Thin, quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma of ovaltine and cappucino. Actually, aroma is very similar to the new Russian Monster Java. Also kinda like homemade Kahlua. Underlyingly, like arabian coffee, sweet and bean-y. Tons of choclate of different types. Light caramel, toffee, a tiny bit of a bite. Flavor is deep. Lots of cappucino, duh, but also a little licorice, pepper, chocolate, kinda bittersweet. Aftertaste is like a mocha-flavored malted milkshake with a distinct alcohol burn at the back of the throat. Beautiful. No carbonation, thick, oily, and viscous. Awesome beer, especially at the price! Hooray Lagunitas! lemasney (302), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Oct 8, 2008 Style and Glass: Stout, english pint
