3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle, purchased 11/06. I did nothing exciting for St. Patís Day, so I brought up my lowest-gravity stout from the cellar tonight. Solid black body with a short brown stout head. Smell of molasses, slight fruit over coffee base. Perhaps this might compare to a Dark Lord? Taste is a little dry at first. Taste like coffee fresh from a roaster comes in, and slight bitterness of cocoa nibs. Kind of syrupy, as others have noted, but more in texture than sweetness. That all can come across a little harsh, which explains the disparity in ratings. I find this to be pretty rich; not really a lot of coffee buzz; at least not now, and fine mutant stout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour is muddy dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has only as bit of coffee. Flavor is more pronounced, coffee grounds and maybe some chocolate. Itís fairly dry for a stout. Looking at the abv and og, it clearly doesnít have much residual sugar. Itís an interesting brew. Iím not wild about it. But itís solid.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Man oh man oh man this is good stuff. Very dark brown with thin tan head. Smells of mocha and toast. Taste is wonderful...bitter coffee balanced with dark chocolate and some toasted malt backing. Nice toasty aftertaste. Noticeable carbonation, but not unpleasant. Dangerously smooth for the alcohol content and creamy mouthfeel makes it a real treat. Love it! Wish it was a regular offering instead of a seasonal, I?d drink one any time.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle bought Jul 12/14. 9.2%abv. Pours a clear, deep mahogany with a one finger, tan head. Aroma has smooth notes of toasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, and a hint of dark fruits. Taste is a touch sweet. Starts out with dark chocolate, roasted malts, and caramel, then moves to coffee, dark fruits, and an drawn out aftertaste. Medium-full body with a low-medium carbonation. Not too syrupy in the mouth with a big, dry finish. Overall a really nice coffee stout. Balanced and not overdone. Very drinkable.

Draught at Blackbird. Deep brown, huge lasting foamy, frothy light tan coloured head. Lovely soft coffee nose. Flavour is a work of art, soft coffee, milky texture, some bitterness in the back. Mouthfeel is so so smooth.
