22 oz. bottle, purchased 11/06. I did nothing exciting for St. Pat’s Day, so I brought up my lowest-gravity stout from the cellar tonight. Solid black body with a short brown stout head. Smell of molasses, slight fruit over coffee base. Perhaps this might compare to a Dark Lord? Taste is a little dry at first. Taste like coffee fresh from a roaster comes in, and slight bitterness of cocoa nibs. Kind of syrupy, as others have noted, but more in texture than sweetness. That all can come across a little harsh, which explains the disparity in ratings. I find this to be pretty rich; not really a lot of coffee buzz; at least not now, and fine mutant stout.

Bottle from GBBF, 2015. Pours black with a beige head. Lots of cappuccino aromas, dark chocolate, prunes and cola. Long roasty flavours of coffee, dark chocolate raisin and licorice. Sweet, roasty finish. Tasty.

12 oz pour from tap into shaker pint. with my breakfast bagel in Bozeman. Beautiful appearance. Black, opaque, fluffy tan head with great lacing. Full and creamy. Nose is sweet, coffee, cream. Taste is delicious. Milk, chocolate, cream, coffee, a little woodiness. A lot of malty coffee flavors and a hint of real coffee sourness. Awesome.

Only had a small sample on draft, but it was heavenly. Overwhelming cappuccino flavor, but welcomed. Holding back a bit on the rating because it was just a sample and not a full glass, but wow.

Deep, dark brown with a tan head. Creamy, smooth. Coffee, roasty malt, a bit of cocoa, and some sweetness. Very full, very good.

Poured from a 22oz. bottle. Appearance is a deep dark brown with a reddish tint when held to light, head is one finger and lasts a bit. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, dark roasted malts. Taste is cappuccino, bitter-sweet dark chocolate, dark roasted malts, vanilla. Palate is medium to full bodied. Great beer, good for dessert or breakfast.

A sumptuous, seductive stout, that succeeds in belying the high alcohol content behind a rich tapestry of flavours. Pours dark, with solid tan head, and pleasant on the nose, with roasted malts and coffee notes predominating. Smooth medium-body on the palate, with roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate delivering a very comforting experience. Overall, a very decent imperial stout.
