4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer pours a deep mahogany, the head tall and tan with good lacing and retention. Nose is malty with notes of coffee, nuts and peach. Taste is malty sweet with a mild fruitiness. Finish is burnt coffee, hops delectable in their spiciness, very dry with a modest acidity, a thick and tongue coating aftertaste lasts long. A fine sturdy stout. Well blended.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Has a cola appearance. Strong coffee taste which I really enjoy with a little bitter bite finish, not much though. Drinks well for a high ABV. Good beer

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I poured a 22oz bottle into a tulip glass. It was bottled on 1/25/14 and cost $4.99 ($0.23 per ounce).
Appearance: Cola-like black body, though actually dark brown on close inspection. Pours to a small, tan, foamy head which laces and retains rather well.
Smell: Typical stout aroma of roasted malt, but with a significant coffee scent.
Taste: The thing about coffee stouts is theyíve got to be drank fresh to really appreciate that additive, otherwise the flavor fades quickly. I was a little concerned that even a five-month-old bottle might not be as robust as it should be. And while Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout doesnít taste like cappuccino per se, it definitely has the strong coffee presence you want in an imperial coffee stout.
The palette, much like everything about this beer, is quite familiar. A dark malty sweetness right away with significant dark chocolate notes. A dairy-like sweetness akin to that of oatmeal and milk stouts is also noticeable. The coffee component appears out of nowhere on the finish, imparting significant bitterness and a drying sensation, though the actual coffee taste is quite pleasant. Thereís a milk chocolate presence as well which gives it a nice balance. All the flavors are enjoyable, though none are particularly strong, nor is the beer as a whole especially unique. Still, itís delectable and pleasing and more than enough to garner an enthusiastic recommendation from me.
Drinkability: For a big beer at 9.2% ABV, Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout drinks like something more normal or mainstream. The body is of course full, though the mouthfeel itself is not thick or sticky. Itís relatively light and highly carbonated, though itís quite smooth going down. The residual coffee aftertaste is nice, though it fades rather quickly. This is a great dessert beer by itself, though it would be ideal with any kind of chocolate or vanilla flavored sweets.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle: Murky, brown, muddled... borderline swampy looking. Expecting darker for a stout, really. Seemingly low carbonation, only a very small khaki film that leaves relatively no lacing behind. Aroma has boozy chocolates, with an alcohol character of cheap whiskey coming off. Some vanilla, cocoa dust... Oak chips? Kind of like a charred essence somewhere in there. Strange. A little pungent. Taste is very chocolate forward, rustic, & almost woodsy. Deep, bitter & dark espresso with more cocoa powder in the finish. Ashy hops throughout, but light. Alcohol character grows towards the end & gets stronger with warmth. You can taste the 9.3% ABV, here, unfortunately. Sticky syrup mouth feel, though itís relatively thin for a "big" stout. Overall, not a big fan of this one. Just missed the mark for me. An "off" bottle perhaps? Just thin, boozy, & run of the mill in all aspects.

Bottle, from the Bottle Barn SR, at JFís BBQ 15/06/14.
Black with a big old tan covering that retains well - sheís a looker!
Nose is sweet smelling, roast malt, cappucino froth, chocolate, tar.
Taste comprises big coffee grounds, dark roast malted backdrop, light chilli heat, spice, rich chocolate.
Medium bodied, easy drinking for ABV, fine carbonation, trace of booze and green pepper licks in the close.
Solid coffee driven impy!

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Had this one at my favorite local watering hole. Itís billed as made from Sebastopol coffee and packs a wallop without ever letting on that it contains so much ABV. Goes down smooth, finishes bitter (very nice brew). My go-to beer when they donít have anything else I fancy.

Pours a pitch black with a one finger tan head with some light lacing. Aroma is of coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, and some molasses. Taste is similar to the aroma with some nice coffee, vanilla cream, caramel, and light coco notes. Has a medium-full body with a creamy, silky mouthfeel, and a slightly bitter, medium-long finish

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not a big coffee fan, but gave it a shot. Smells of roasted coffee. Has a deep opaque color. Has a very strong coffee flavor. Has a mix of milk and sugar. finishes a harsh bitter flavor. It does hide the alcohol fairly well.
