The beer pours a deep mahogany, the head tall and tan with good lacing and retention. Nose is malty with notes of coffee, nuts and peach. Taste is malty sweet with a mild fruitiness. Finish is burnt coffee, hops delectable in their spiciness, very dry with a modest acidity, a thick and tongue coating aftertaste lasts long. A fine sturdy stout. Well blended.

Man oh man oh man this is good stuff. Very dark brown with thin tan head. Smells of mocha and toast. Taste is wonderful...bitter coffee balanced with dark chocolate and some toasted malt backing. Nice toasty aftertaste. Noticeable carbonation, but not unpleasant. Dangerously smooth for the alcohol content and creamy mouthfeel makes it a real treat. Love it! Wish it was a regular offering instead of a seasonal, I?d drink one any time.

Bottle from the brewery Lagunitas, Petaluma - CA. Color: dark black beer with small carbonation and small brown head. Smell: coffee domination and mocha notes. Some black chocolate notes, and rye bread with roasted malt. Taste: high cappuccino and coffee domination. Rye malt taste with great sweet roasted malt. Aftertaste: black chocolate and coffee finish, good bitterness. Really nice beer.

Bottle bought Jul 12/14. 9.2%abv. Pours a clear, deep mahogany with a one finger, tan head. Aroma has smooth notes of toasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, and a hint of dark fruits. Taste is a touch sweet. Starts out with dark chocolate, roasted malts, and caramel, then moves to coffee, dark fruits, and an drawn out aftertaste. Medium-full body with a low-medium carbonation. Not too syrupy in the mouth with a big, dry finish. Overall a really nice coffee stout. Balanced and not overdone. Very drinkable.

Draught at Blackbird. Deep brown, huge lasting foamy, frothy light tan coloured head. Lovely soft coffee nose. Flavour is a work of art, soft coffee, milky texture, some bitterness in the back. Mouthfeel is so so smooth.

Pours black with a khaki head. Some lacing in the glass. Aromas of coffee and more coffee with some licorice and chocolate and malt. Taste of coffee, chocolate and malt. Medium mouth feel. A little alcohol warmth at the end. Very nice ale as usual from Lagunitas.

Dark brown pour, nearly black. Tan head with excellent lacing. Aroma is huge coffee, mild chocolate. Taste is big coffee as well. It loves up to its name. Very good, Iíll probably buy this again.

This beer pours a clear dark brown with some ruby shining through it when held up to the light. There is a medium sized tan head that had good retention and left some good lacing around the glass. The aroma is very strong and welcoming. I am picking up coffee right up front and is the most prominent aroma and I also pick up some chocolate, dark roasted malts, and a small amount of alcohol. The taste is dark roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, some alcohol can be tasted especially as it warms, and not much bitterness which is to be expected. The mouthfeel is on the medium side and the drinkability is quite high with beer.

To the extent an imperial stout is ever light, this is on the lighter side for the style. Light coffee aroma and flavor, enough that you know it is there, but doesnít overpower the lightly sweet flavor of the moderately roasted malt. Very easy to drink, and the high abv could sneak up on you.
