3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 elnadeau (786) - Laguna Niguel, California, USA - SEP 24, 2003
Deep brownish-amber (aka copper - but that's too obvious) with a small nicely lacing head. Medium/full body, with sweet fruity malt backed up by a brace of floral hops. Having more or less ignored the labeling, I was totally unaware of the abv - in fact I would have called this a drinkable session brew that would be good to back up something more distinctive and stronger, but using this for a session could be dangerous. Overall quite good, and it comes in 12oz sixers too.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mreeves (273) - Sammamish, Washington, USA - AUG 30, 2003
Pours a dark copper color, good amount of head that stays on the top of the beer. Label says only 29 IBU's, but tastes hoppier. Also, surprisingly high alcohol content at 7.7% ABV--doesn't taste it. Overall, a good basic ale. I'd buy it again.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 drismyhero (815) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - AUG 25, 2003
For something claiming to be "Kronic" and sporting a picture of a clearly cheeched dog I thought this was a bit right smack dab in the middle of the beaten path. Nice and tasty hoppiness with an equally impressive maltiness, this is a pretty typical although tasty copper ale. I hope the title wasn't given in respect to the alchohol content (which was nicely concealed actually) because that is the least important aspect of the beer.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 snoot (285) - Anaheim, California, USA - AUG 24, 2003
Pours a clear copper color, slightly floral aroma with hints of citrus. Flavor is a nice balance of malts with some good hop bitterness on the aftertaste. Nice ale.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 baobubba (455) - Starkville, Mississippi, USA - AUG 24, 2003
UPDATED: SEP 27, 2003 Amber with an off-white head. Aroma seems relatively balanced for a strong-ale. Resin/citrus hop aromas countered by roasted marshmallows. Semi-sweet with a fairly bitter finish, but it is refreshing. Very drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ernest (5187) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 22, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 8, 2005 Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (nuts, cookie), moderately hoppy (resin, flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Hops aren’t the kind I like, and there’s just not much going on in the aroma otherwise. Ok brew, but I like the Hairy Eyeball much better.
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 dberger624 (1028) - Phila, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 19, 2003
Maybe this was a bad bottled but this was a abd beer. Looked nice but that was it. Smell and taste were too bitter. Couldn't finish this one.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 PorterPounder (4114) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 18, 2003
UPDATED: MAR 16, 2009 Rerate Aroma is a bit on the musty side and the caramel flavor is ot quite as pronounced. Original 3.8 Has a slightly hoppy aroma with some faint floral notes. Attractive copper colored pour. Heavy lacing on an off-white sticky head. Has a slightly bitter flavor in a good way, with some mellow maltiness. Not sure what is going on with the rambling on label - sounds like a scene from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure - here is a bit of it - "anyway, we were out to, uh, the, uh, you know thing and all" - maybe an inside joke? Anyway - a decent strong ale.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 lunaticharness (183) - Torrance, California, USA - AUG 4, 2003
ive had this in a bottle.. and ive had this one tap.. the tap version was way better, nice fat foamy head that stayed around all beer long, nice strong hops and bits of sweet malts poking out, very nice
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 legion242 (1873) - Richardson, Texas, USA - JUL 29, 2003
Clear brown and nose full of malt. Smels sweeter then it tastes. Slightly roasted. Hints of brown sugar. Interesting dryness despite the lack of hops.
