This ale contains no actual copper but we’re pretty literal... It looked coppery, so we lamely called it a copper ale. Lots’a nice caramel malt though... Originally 5.9% alcohol by volume, currently

Handpump. Hoppy aromas, copper color and a nice head. Flavors of fruit and hops. The body is not as bold as I would have liked, it is somewhat on the watery side.

Pours a hazy orange brown color with very minimal amounts of wispy white head. Aroma is very citrus oriented, with some earthy woody undertones and a strong sugared grapefruit essence. Flavor not what i expected, extremely sweet and malty, slight sweet fruit flavor with a light watery mouthfeel. Overall, enjoyable but not stupendous.

12 oz bottle. Amber pour with a light head, only complaint is that it needs some carbonation. Creamy, lightly sweet, malt aroma. Hints of sharpness as it warms. Flavors of light flat root beer, sweet malt, wood, minimal hops in the body (balance only really) but a lightly bitter finish. Medium body and mouth feel. Better cold. I’ve got to say that I liked this in a general way, but I was disappointed to see that it was an American Strong Ale. I rather thought it was a good amber ale. Oh well..

(Bottle) Purchased at Beers of the World in Rochester, NY. Pours a creamy tan head with a clouded reddish-amber body. Nose of cask whiskey, machine oil and hops. Flavour of very orange and lemon strong ale. Very bitter and nice alcohol warming. Very enjoyable!

I have to admit I spent some time trying to figure out what the word was behind the black bar. Dark copper color with a thick light orange/beige head. Thin lacing. Aroma of strong malt and subtle fruit. Medium-bodied and balanced nicely between sweet malt and citrus fruit. Light touch of pine as well. The finish is mildly bitter and lasting. Above average.

Bottle: Cloudy copper color with a small, off-white head. The commercial description says malt dominates, but I taste a pretty strong hop presence. Bitter aftertaste is nice (as it warms up it turns sweet on the prolonged aftertaste) and it does have a smooth finish. It hides the alcohol well.

Pours a nice dark reddish amber color. Aromas of malts, and some other hints, maybe fruit, maybe caramel, and hops. Flavor is a bitter, malty, and hoppy with a nice dry finish.

Aroma of butterscotch, malt, caramel and hops, opaque copper, pours a small tan head. Flavour has caramel and malt, with a touch of hop, taste is slightly less than nose indicated. Well balanced, very well made, good mouthfeel and the alcohol isn’t noticed. Very fine example! Thanks for sharing tupalev!

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2007 Pours a deep, rich, dull copper penny color w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Superb head retention w/ thick, sticky lacing. Nice! Aroma has a nice hopsy boquet w/ malted cracker jax. Medium to full nectar with creamy residual effers. Big and malty w/ a better than mild hop profile that balances it all out immediately. Huge flavors of molases, leather, and citrus rind w/ a defined malted cracker jax character. Fat caramel meets stabbing citrus rind. "He fell on my knife ten times your honor". The finish is long on flavor w/ a well defined citrus rind bittering component. Highly recommended.
