This ale contains no actual copper but we’re pretty literal... It looked coppery, so we lamely called it a copper ale. Lots’a nice caramel malt though... Originally 5.9% alcohol by volume, currently

[draught] An odd ale indeed - red colorwith tiny head - aroma is mildly tart, with a little hint of hops, not really doing justice to the maltiness in the flavor - as others have noted, there is a surprising bitterness to this, that works shockingly well with the malty flavors of brown sugar (caramelized?), raisins, dough - bitter/tart finish -interesting.

copper..that’s a decent color description..head is average initially, mostly dissipating though. lots of caramel malts, but a good hop presence as well, albeit taking the back seat in this beer. also notes of burned sugar. flavor has a surprising bitterness, but with strong cookie dough and caramel maltiness, this may be the first beer where i actually think i might understand the cookie dough effect..but it may be something else. finish is quite hoppy and bitter and loooong! very good. thanks drunkasaskunk!

Nice amber color with a thick head that laced very nicely...sweet nose with a little apparent alcohol (the only place I noticed it)...malty palate, not overly sweet...a hoppy bite when you push your tongue up to swallow...Hairy Eyeball was my favorite Lagunitas brew, but now I have a little rethinking to do...

Copper colored brew with an excellent tan colored head that is very well retained. Rich grapefruit aroma with a bit of alcohol and some sweet malt. Interesting flavor with strong malt sweetness and a ligt shot of grapefruit juice in the finish. Reminds me a bit of a strong English ale, ala Fullers.

A good looking clear amber colored beer. Malt and sweet caramel aromas dominate in the nose. Medium bodied with smooth malt, caramel, and maple syrup flavors. I didn’t realize the abv was so high, it’s well hidden behind the strong malt presence. Simply a nice malt experience.

A nice malt balances the hops on this one - I’d say that the commercial description of "malt domination" is about as true as this statement gets for a California brew. It’s a sweetish malt, and completely overrules any alcohol taste from the surprising 7.7%. A nice looking beer as well, the huge head quickly dissipates but never leaves, and an attractive lace remains on the mug. For some reason this one strikes me as being a great on to get on tap, I’ll have to get over there one day.

This is a good malty strong ale. Full of darker fruits in the aroma and taste, caramel, toast, sweet brown sugar. A nice amount of hops here - citrus, resin, warmth. Glad I picked up a few bottles of this one.

Thanks to DrunkAsASkunk for this one. Wow, if I keep getting these awesome California brews in the mail I may just apply to be Johnny Carson’s waterboy or something. This one poured deep copper with a medium, frothy white head and lacing. Aroma of malt, fruit, cabernet, caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. Tasted malty, fruity, with hints of cabernet, caramel, cabernet, brown sugar, and toffee. Finishes smooth, with a final blast of malt, toffee, and dry red wine. Very nice.

Sparkling clear, cooper ale with a small, white, creamy head. Very rich, malty aroma with notes of light molasses, clover honey and a little alcohol. The flavor pretty much matches the aroma. Well-bittered for balance. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Medium-length, bitter finish. Me likes!

Pours orange-red color with fluffy white head and heavy lacing. Nose is strong with hops and more hops. Smooth taste with a start of hops that dies off and finishes with a touch of sweetness. Interesting. Thanks for the trade, Darkelf.
