COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale contains no actual copper but we’re pretty literal... It looked coppery, so we lamely called it a copper ale. Lots’a nice caramel malt though... Originally 5.9% alcohol by volume, currently

Poured from a bottle. Pours a dirty copper with an off white head and some lacing. Light carbonation. Plenty of sediment suspended in the pour. Aroma is sharp with notes of bitter citrus rind and a hint of caramel. Flavor is mostly bitter and stays on the roof of your mouth. Fairly smooth finish with lingering bitterness. Not very refreshing. Not that bad but not great. Not my favorite style.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The appearance is a copper color with a large white head. The aroma is malt and sugary sweetness with fruit. The taste is very fruity with caramel malt. A very nice beer.

Wheat honey smells along with some copper tinge in the backdrop. Beautiful copper color. Flavor is Malti sweet at first followed up by a super Rind bitterness. Medium body light carbonation. More red ale then a copper ale.

This was not my favorite of their beers but it was certainly drinkable. I expected more of an Amber taste but it was a bit "off " of that, perhaps why it is more aptly described as copper. It is a bit bitter which is why I think I did not care as much for it as some other similar beers that have a caramel taste.

July 4th, 2012 - Happy 4th of July! Well, belatedly. This is a year and a half old review, but better late than never, right? Lagunitas’ rich copper ale is a rich, shaggy, late red ale, with tons of sweet apple skin scenes and a nice chalkiness, The flavor is equally rich and fruity with light strawberry and mango. The flavor is malty in depth and breadth, with much of the husk and sweetness of a good loaf of friend, and with a yeastiness I am beginning to recognize across Lagunitas’ beers. It fills the mouth and palate, and stands by itself, independent and stalwart. This is an ale that demands isolation, and focus, with its richness and palate domination.

Pours a slightly hazy copper from a bottle with a quickly dissipating thin white head, a little lacing. Toffee notes in the nose, but not overly sweet as many ambers tend. Actually ends on a nice bitter hop note, takes you on a little journey. Very good beer.
