Pours a nice copper with off white head that sticks around pretty well and leaves spotty lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel malts, vanilla, molasses, some bread and winter spices. This is all malts and it smells good. Taste, as expected, is rich sugary malts up front with hops making a brief appearance. Finish is smooth, crisp, and wet. Aftertaste is very slightly bitter, with a lightly roasted caramel bready finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 KansaiBeerLvrs (274) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 23, 2013
A bottle from Craft Beer Base. Another solid beer from Lagunitas. I’ve never been blown away by their beers but I’ve never been dissapointed either, they make good beer. This poured a nice copper color with an off-white head. It had a spicy malt aroma. The flavor was rich & piquant with a bitter caramel finish. Good.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 DocJitsu (334) - California, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Allow me to begin by saying that I feel the overall rating of 89 this beer receives is much too low given the blending of the many facets it showcases. It pours a gorgeous copper color, but the khaki head dissipates way too quickly. Otherwise, this would be an attractive pour. A bit of Chardonnay and dark fruit on the nose. The mouthfeel is extraordinary. The light oiliness blends well with the carbonation, avoiding localization of either. Cranberry and cherry emerge as the dominant flavors. Lightly bitter hoppiness presents seemlessly toward the finish. A magnificently engineered beer.

Deep amber pour with clingy white head. Aroma of caramel malt and bread. Flavor is sweet caramel malt earthy hops and a hinto citrus. A sweet finish. Medium bodied and a reasonably smooth carbonation.
