COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale contains no actual copper but weíre pretty literal... It looked coppery, so we lamely called it a copper ale. Lotsía nice caramel malt though... Originally 5.9% alcohol by volume, currently

Anyone who thinks Lagunitas can only make West Coast hop bombs or big, assertive strong ales needs to give Censored a try. Censored pours about as coppery as copper-colored beers can be and has a lovely amber glow in direct light. Head is full, fluffy, and leaves behind lots of lacing. My gripe with Censored, if I had to pick one, is that itís not very aromatic. You get a whiff of the rich malt, but it doesnít do justice until you taste it. Lots of caramel and some spicy hops. Whether you love Lagunitas (like me) or youíve been turned off by their more aggressive beers, youíll probably find something you like about Censored.

Reddish colour, white head. Quite malty, with a touch of hops, reminded me a good quality English bitter. Not bad.

A: Pours a deep reddish amber color with smallish tan head. Head has good retention but leaves little lacing. Smell & Taste: The roasted malt component has a darker aroma than expected, and it smells a tad darker than it tastes. Good balance of malts and hops, for style, so that the sweet and toasty malts are accompanied by spicy and floral hoppy notes. Very lightly smokey and a bit earthy. M: Nice creamy head; medium body; smooth; well carbonated. O: A very flavorful, well-balanced and aromatic red ale. {From notes}

Bottle shared, pours a copper colored with white head. Malty biscuit nose with some grassy/floral hops. The flavor for an amber is an amber. Nothing spectacular about it other than its one of the better ambers I have tried. Medium malt base with that sneaky bit of hops in the middle. Overall quite drinkable.

From a 12 ounce bottle. Surprisingly, pours copper with slight head and nice carbonation. Biscuity nose. Taste is hoppy akin to an IPA and a toffee/chocolate aftertaste which somewhat linger. Quite yummy.

Definitely a copper color. Appears clear and light. I drank the first one last night, and it didnít feel or taste like it was 7.7%. Now that I am trying it for the 2nd time looking it up here, I can notice a bit of a kick. A little hoppy but not as much as I expected.....more on the sweet side. Tastes of malts, pine, honey, caramel, and hops. This reminded me of a less hoppy version of their 2009 Correction Ale, which I tried a couple weeks ago. I liked that a lot better, but that was a hoppy American Pale Ale....slightly different style. This is growing on me with this 2nd try. For $8.99 a six, given the ABV%, itís a pretty good deal. Updated 6/7: Ok, this is my 3rd try and Iím liking it better each time. I am in the comfort of my own home instead of visiting the family 100 miles away, so am able to enjoy this more...in my own element, etc. The flavors are a bit enhanced now, which I am noticing a bit more hops than before. Itís nowhere near a hop bomb, still sweet to me, just that it could be hoppier than my initial review. Iíd say pretty close to an American Pale Ale. Not the greatest aroma, and mouthfeel pretty close to a 9 but not quite....otherwise Iíd give this a slightly higher rating. Who knows, I may be changing it in the future. For $9 or under, Iíd buy this again.
