3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle from Beer Army Outpost in New Bern. Dark copper hue, murky clarity with mostly diminishing off-white fizzy head. Okay lacing. Dark fruit aroma (cherry?). Dark fruit taste up front with a short sweet malt finish. Flat carbonation, wet on the palate, good mouthfeel.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Look: pours an amber color. Whit head that leaves lacing in the edge if the glass.
Smell: very sweet. Like a fruity gum. Slightly tropical. Apples
Taste: apples. Darker fruits. Very hop forward beer. Slight maltiness on the back.
Feel: leaves a thin film on the mouth. Medium carbonation.
Overall: ok beer. Something in the flavor I can't quite figure out what it is (wheat???)Not bad for a red ale.
First drank: 7/13/14 home

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
This has an off-white colored head above a clear, very copper-colored body. Thereís actually quite a bit of junk floating in this with slow carbonation. The aroma is sweet and really enjoyable. I love the way Lagunitas beers smell... I think itís the sweetness. Thereís something sticky, beyond your average caramelized malts, in this beer - something that reminds me of brown sugar. The aroma is malty-sweet with some light hops and an almost fruit-like character.
In the mouth itís light, a little fruity, with a fruitiness in the flavor that mellows nicely against the hop flavor and what seems like a very green, plant-like character thatís hard to pin-point. Itís light, sweet, very lively in the mouth. For a low-IBU beer I canít imagine anything better for the style. Itís low in bitterness, yes, but well-supported by a delicious hop flavor that balances out the residual sugars.
Itís certainly very rich, and if copper were made of beer it would likely taste exactly like this. Itís lively and lightly sweet for a beer that looks so heavy in caramel sweetness. Itís incredibly sessionable, too.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clean copper pour, decent ,quick head. Roasted malt in the nose. Bittersweet. Middle is caramel and fresh barley bread. Finish shows a subtle hop bitterness. Pretty balanced beer, definite session material.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Still a little more bitter than I would expect from an Amber ale. The aftertaste was a bit overpowering for me.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Deep amber colour. Head is white and foamy. Tastes like that yucky copper feeling you get in the back of your mouth when you workout too hard. Not great.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very nice copper color, probably the closest to an actual copper color Iíve seen in an amber ale with white head. Caramel malt on the nose with a little citrus; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more caramel malt.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a clear medium amber with one finger of frothy head diminishing gradually to half that, moderate lacing. Nose is sweet caramel malt, bread and yeast, with only faint hops. Taste is hoppier than the nose suggests, but still dominated by a rich, earthy sweet malt. Medium-bodied, with moderate persistent carbonation and a lingering bitter finish.
Not bad for an amber ale. I usually prefer hops to malt, but this makes for a nice change of pace. Not to mention, the hop bitterness does come through more in the flavour than youíd initially think based on the aroma. Quite pleasant.
