Malty aroma. Not super strong. Pours copper and super clear with a nice white head that lasts a while. Flavor is big and malty. Has a tiny bit of something that feels nutty to me. Sweet like. Iím imagining some cara and crystal hops. Has some hop flavor as well, but secondary. Not very bitter, in fact for lagunitas Iíd expect a bit more. Thick body.

Average beer overall. Provides a nice experience for the alcohol content, and certainly has the Lagunitas taste. Adjust your rating accordingly if you really enjoy Lagunitas.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted from 12oz brown bottle into a shaker glass. It poured a clear, deep amber colour with long-lasting beige foam and lace. "Very heavy oak character" is right; so much so that it overpowered everything else. Other than the hard-woodsy, tanniny, vaguely vanilla-like essence, it seemed a fairly bland amber ale, with no special malt, hops, or yeast characteristics to speak of. Certainly drinkable, but not delicious.

Odd one from Tylerís in Durham. Wondering if they poured me the right freaking beer... waiter was terrible. Did taste like that hoppy-yet-still-a-bit-sweet Lagunitas trademark. Deep golden/light orange with a creamy white head and nice lacing. Nose of lots of sticky hops... oak is very mild despite the description. Tastes similar; orange, resin, mild oak. Not bad.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: APR 28, 2012 It doesnít smell too attractive, the appearance is great. It has a strong taste compared to similar "amber ales" (ie. george killians and longboard). It tastes more powerful than a typical copper ale and I favorite it over the two listed.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Itís a clear, golden to amber beer topped by a dense, finger-thick off-white to beige head. Mostly malty aroma, crystal malts. Some hoppyness, with fluor, pine cones and grass. The flavor has a nice bitterness, but is a bit dull. Caramel, some roasted malts and a touch of some herbal notes. Medium to full body, a bit low on carbonation. A rather boring one. Sure drinkable though. 111112
