Not too much in the aroma, brown with a thick dark head. A sweet caramel flavor. Thick and rich, a nice finish. Maybe some nuts. An excellent finish. Great stuff.

hops never quite punch through but it is only slightly malt-centric.
maybe not quite as complex or peppery as i expected, but my expectations were pretty high. great beer.
4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 cathcacr (620) - Oregon, USA - MAR 11, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2009 Update 3/26: Presents very much like a Baltic Porter, I was thinking Duck Rabbit almost. Ridiculously underrated, I hope Lagunitas can turn this into a regular release.
Ridiculously sweet, definitely presents like a winter-seasonal ale with very dark opaque presentation. Very sugary. Tasty. Lovely.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Nuffield (3090) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - APR 30, 2010
This is undoubtedly one of the best values in beer that I’ve had for a long long time. For a $4.79 bomber, I got a beer that had a dense, silky, viscous body; rich caramel and toasted flavors; extremely well balanced profile for a beer hitting 8.6% abv; and a long finish without being at all off-putting. Excellent beer by any measure, and then you give it to me for under $5...fabulous. Big bonus points in the overall. Well done, Lagunitas.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 jstraw (1216) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 16, 2009
Bomber at Jerry’s. Dark brown with decent, creamy brown head / Mild cigar and fruit box nose / Medium body, chewy, with good balance and dry finish / Mellow, winey flavors of roast barley, straw, tobacco, coffee, white peppercorns, semisweet chocolate, and vanilla / Not the typical coffee-chocolate monster, but interesting and more complex and balanced than many.
4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 lordmeat (12) - Aransas Pass, Texas, USA - FEB 4, 2009
Bottle. Once opened the aroma filled my nostrils instantly. Chocolately, malty and roasted. Wonderful smell. Poured thick and dark with a small, creamy head. Tastes rich and roasted. Definitly worth it.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cybercat (1913) - Georgia, USA - APR 26, 2009
Aroma is strong, hoppy and yeasty with an earthy undertone of molasses. It pours a rich, opaque sable with a fairly thick but not too persistent pale tan head. Flavor is mouth-filling, earthy, sweet but not cloying, with coffee and molasses tones and just a whisper of hoppy bitterness. Texture is silky-smooth and nicely tingly, leaving a coffee-ish, slightly sweet aftertaste.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 legion242 (1873) - Richardson, Texas, USA - JAN 19, 2009
Very lovely, silky smooth on the palate. 8.6%? Very well hidden then. I get those hints of the chocolate nibs without this delving into "chocolate stout" territory and the peppercorn is restrained.
4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - FEB 7, 2009
Bottle. Body-opaque with a half inch foamy head. Nose-malty, lightly toasty, metal. Taste-grape juice, light Tootsie Rolls, medium to high CO2, not too sweet, light malt balls, light toasted coconut, raisin, unsweet dark fruits, and grape blow pops. A damn enjoyable beer. Nearly flawless.
