3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is the best APA I have had outside of SN. The cascade hops came out in the aroma and in the taste. It sort of reminded me of a RedHook IPA. What saved it from becoming a RedHook IPA was the notes of malt which jumped out in the end to balance this bad boy out. Very refreshing and easy to drink. Great gateway pale ale.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A most dissapointing pale ale. The hefty West Coast style malts up front give way to a thin, watery middle before finishing with slight but astringent bitterness. The aroma is almost entirely toffee, caramel and biscuit with only subdued hops. The empty middle was extremely dissapointing and ruined the entire beer for me. Otherwise, it wasn’t a bad beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pale amber color, slight hazy, and light in body. There’s a good level of carbonation as well as a firm white foam. The nose is fresh and noticeably sweet and malty, with suggestions of caramel, while there’s also a good hop balance evident. It carries a firm but fairly light and easy palate, with something of an English Bitter mouthfeel and a little carbonation. The malt is instantly noticeable; it’s even a little sugary or candy-like at the tip. There’s a biscuity, caramel malt in the middle but to a lesser extent than I would have expected. The hops bite in fairly early, although the malt does hold up well throughout striking up a good balance, while there’s a good tangy citrus that gives a slightly sharp, prickly finish. The aftertaste is pretty mellow as the tang subdues and the caramel or toffee notes reassert themselves a little without really dominating.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Enjoy this one more than their IPA. Much more malts than hops in this one, but it has a pleasing, full mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very very nice. Malty, as others have noted, and great for times when you don’t want a huge hop aroma and taste...in other words, well balanced. Liked it alot, it just ’paled’ in comparison after the Humboldt pale last night.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rich & malty with a fresh, handcrafted taste. Wholesome, bread-like aroma with a bitter edge. Would’ve liked to see more aroma hops in this one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JAN 20, 2007 As I am drinking one right now, I am sort of disappointed. Maybe because I just had two of their kick ass IPA’s. Very malty and well balanced. I just like more hops, that’s all. Pretty average though.
