Fresh bomber. Extremely minty hop aroma. Light golden color. Full, rich flavor, very bitter and oily, with hints of peaches. A tasty one.

I had this in the basement fridge for a very long time. Finally brought it out. It was quite chunky (floaties), which wasnít ideal, but the aging suited this well, giving it a nice vintage flavor to match what appeared to be a rounded Imperial IPA sensibility. Decent, and a good value at its original price (under $5 for a bomber).

Out of the mouth of a deuce-deuce.
The color is a pleasant golden shade, with quite a bit of carbonation and a decent little amount of head. Leaves a nice little bit of lacing on the rim of the glass.
The smell is a sweet hoppy aroma. Has a sort of wood scent to it, like a Christmas tree almost. Very interesting and unusual aroma, slightly bitter.
The taste is a burst of hops, with that same woodsy flavor. Like walking through the forest. The hops are bitter, but somewhat offset by that unusual tree-like flavor. Very different IPA, really stands out from the others. Distinct.
Has a smooth ale feel to it, but the strong hops give it a jagged edge. Itís a really unique beer, and delicious. This 22 might be hard to swallow down, just because of itís hoppy/woodsy one-two punch, but Iím gonna try. Truly a one-of-a-kind IPA.

Bottle pours light copper and orange with a nice fluffy off white head. Slightly stale hop aroma with some toffee and caramel notes. Crisp hop bitterness which is not unlike the rest of Lagunitas. Citrus bitterness with a sweet backbone. Almost drying on the tongue. No discernible flavors to match the sweetness. Not much backing up the bitterness. Watery mouthfeel. Not a bad beer, but more of an APA. I hope that its age is why the bitterness has dropped out. Wish I would have drank it sooner.

First off, I really enjoyed the Zappa tribute on the label; certainly took me back to the late sixties. This poured a fairly cloudy and dark gold colour underneath a foamy white two-fingered head. The aroma was a nice combination of hops and malt. The taste was much more of hops than malt, with the right amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel was okay, but I did think it was bit on the ígrittyí side. Finish was a bit on the sweet side; not bad and overall better than I expected, given some of the slagging that Lagunitas beers have taken on another site.

***review from June 18, 2007***
Nice apricot colour with some opaqueness, light carbonation and an average sized offwhite rocky head. So-so retention but suprisingly good bubbly lacing. The aroma is excellent with its aromatic sweet candy grapefruit hops (quite candy-like), canned peaches and lichi nuts and a hint of flowery yumness - one of the better smelling Lagunitas brews. It has a good fresh flavour. Noticable floral hops (?) - very bitter! Yum yum! Some malt and a slight peppermint taste is also detected. I canít directly taste the alcohol but itís there. Even though it does taste pretty good it still falls short on interest. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with an excellent bitter finish.

Beer pours a bright hazy brow when held up the light it appears to be bronze in color a off white fluffy head was produced that had some pretty good retention, this beer looks yummy. Very hoppy aroma as to be expected, grape fruit hops and a caramel malt back bone are making my mouth drool, canít wait for the first sip. Brew starts off sweet and then finished with a dry bitterness, lots of citusy hops that are almost candy sweet, and a malt flavor that reminds me of leather (in a good way) I would have not say the after taste is tart and Iíve never had that before. This is highly enjoyable itís pretty much a standard IPA but this is a very high quality one that is well balanced. Review done while watching Canadaís worst handy man."
