Brewed by our friends from all over Chicago, the fusion 23 is a lil sumpin for session drinkers -- silky and smooth wheat and floral from equinox, mosaic, and experimental HBC 291 hops

Read other reviews on this one, and I digress. I actually enjoyed this beer. Aroma/taste is somewhere between a pale/ipa ale. Hoppy aroma, with a slight bite to the taste. Good brew.

The normally very reliable Lagunitas came up with a slightly more uneven offering. But, it is experimental, so I suppose that’s o.k. Bright flavors in spots but also not as clean in the finish. Fine, but just fine. (on tap at Red Cow, St. Paul)

Tap. Pale gold pour with a big foamy white head. Citrus and grassy hops. Lighter palate. Bright and light on the tongue. Nice flavorful and easy drinking brew.

Sample at the Lagunitas Beer Tasting & Movie at Studio 35 on 09/21/2014: The beer pours a clear golden color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of floral hops, citrus and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, grapefruit and toasted malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at Stub and Herb’s in Minneapolis. Mild medium malty nose, some citrus and light fruit. Clear honey color. Strong and clear malty initial, grain, (and what seems to be rye), serious scratchy hops in mid palate, some earthiness, and finish is lightly bitter.Thin body. Clean and tasty, rich and satisfying. A less hoppy brew from Lagunitas. Doesn’t really resemble Lil Sumpin.

Draft at Lagunitas from my backlog. Taste and aroma are a very light tropical fruitiness with just a touch of lemon and grass. A little thin but otherwise ok

Transparent gold with heavy white lacing. Clean dry hopped aroma with grass, flowers, rose, light melon. Minerals, and some pale biscuit malt; careful presentation, subdued and pleasant. The soft pollens are lovely.

Crisp, citrus pith and fragrant floral taste, arrestingly delicate and surprising much as the nose. Mineral tones sometimes border on metals. White bread and quiet cereal grain malt. No heaviness, and low on sugar despite a honeyed sensation that permeates everything.

Brisk, tight mouthfeel; clean middle, devoid of the expectant, sugary low-grade malts. Finishes clean and lightly bitter with apricot skin and minerals. While not fully realized, the effort here is praiseworthy.
