4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a rusty amber color with three fingers of sticky eggshell foam. Nose is earthy rye spice, graham cracker, citrus and sappy pine. Palate is silky creamy and delicious with a nice rustic grain character that provides a big malty backdrop for the spicy earth to linger and punchy citrus and pine flavors to ebb and flow till the bitter finish. Another perfect beer from Lagunitas !

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle poured into a tulip. The aroma is initially that of fresh baked bread and, more specifically it’s crust. There’s also a warm, sweet caramel (that flirts with butterscotch), pine, wood, sweet orange citrus, and amellow herbal quality. It pours a deep, rich, clear, effervescent copper orange and is topped with a big, creamy soft, off-white head consisting of an even distribution of small bubbles. A hefty layer of head is retained throughout the drink, leaving a thick soapy ring and a soap-puff island with a light puff filling in the rest of the surface layer. It also leaves lots of messy, soapy lacing. The taste is a medium high bitter and sweet - pleasantly blended. There’s an above average amount of active carbonation with a slick, full body. The finish is dry and mostly caramel and pine with secondary notes of bitter citrus peel. A combination of bread crust and rye come through in the aftertaste which is strong, but cleans up after a brief stay. There seems to be a touch of mint in the aftertaste as well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
~Citrusy grapefruit aroma with pine and resinous woody notes. Sweet caramel malt.
~Pours a copper color with light haziness. Big dense frothy yellowish white head that last.
~Resinous woody hop flavor with loads of maltiness of caramel, bread and biscuits.
~Full bodied, with medium low CO2, Lingering woody bitterness.
~I was expecting this to be a typical over hopped Lagunitas seasonal beer. I’m glad they went over a bit to the maltier side. Hoppy for sure, but also plenty of malt character to keep the malt mongers happy.
