This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum.

The beer pours a dark copper color with a medium head. The aroma has some toffee and pine. Taste is pretty sweet like malt followed by some pine and citrus. Long finish with a smooth taste.

Pours amber with ruby highlights. The thin ivory head is fleeting. Big hoppy citrus aroma. The flavor is well balanced, sweet and malty with a citrus and resinous hop bite. Medium body and carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel with a dry finish. Very drinkable. Very good!

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark amber, solid beige head cover, heavy streaks of lace. Taste is full-bodied caramel malt that grows stronger in the palate, adding medium hops on the swallow. Some malt returns in the finish, along with a little warmth. Solid brew. Recommended.

Pours deep amber with a red tinge, one fat finger off white head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate to heavy lacing (4/5) Nose is pine resin and citrus, caramel malt. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (8/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, mild bitter finish. (4/5) Excellent amber ale - light enough to be session able, with a very well-integrated ABV that’s never intrusive, yet retaining enough body and hop presence to be interesting. A somewhat hop-forward interpretation of a traditionally malt-dominated style - I like it. (16/20)

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a nice looking somewhat hazy to light transparent amber color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing clinging in a nice foamy sort of way. The smell had a nice blend of citrus sweet to piney coated caramel malts. The taste was mainly sweet with a nice bitter underscore of piney hops. There was a light piney/caramel aftertaste leading into a dry piney finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but still good for the style. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Imperial Red that I would bang again.
