COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum.

This offering from Lagunitas delivers a maroon foggy body with a creamy tan head that disappears quickly. The aroma is west coast hops, herbal, sweet, baked cookies, and a promising caramel sweetness. The taste is the opposite of the nose, the nasal part of my palate was thinking "sweet malt bomb" but this offering came at me with a brutal bitter hoppy citrus rind pimp slap. This is a good brew and balances that aggresive hop taste with some toffee goodness that again ends bitter. Another great offering from Lagunitas.

(22oz. Bottle) Pours a deep amber body with a large lasting beige head. Aroma of caramel, fresh baked bread, and citrus (orange, grapefruit). The flavor has a god malt base with fresh hops combined with a sweet caramel and citrus finish. This blends nicely to a soft, silky smooth dessert in a glass. An excellent beer!

Courtesy of BuckDich. strong aroma of piney hops and caramel malt with a hint of grapefruit peel. Color is a lustrous dark amber and a thumb thick, compact tan head rides atop the body. Sweet malt in the fore is rich with tasty caramel notes, but is quickly buried under and avalanche of piney hops. As in the aroma the flavor also has a mixing of piney hops and some lighter citrus accented hops. In the flavor the citrus notes are more noticeable, but no less a second fiddle to the piney flavors. I can’t say I like it, but that is just the hop-hater in me. There is certainly nothing off about it. If you accept that this is an appropriate amount of hoppiness then this is a well made beer.

Bomber poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, orange, bread and a hint of wet cardboard. Palate was medium bodied. Flavors of bread, carmel, light citrus and earthiness with a lingering bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours an orange-copper body with a small creamy white head. The aroma has caramel, bread, faint butter, and fruit. The flavour is malt-skewed - plenty of bread and a good blast of chewy hops. Creamy body. Good.

Overwhelming piney floral hops ,a little bit of malt fights its way through the pine forest, light amber color, The hop dominance goes right to the flavor, where you find a sweet alcohol malt trying to unsuccessfully to balance the heavy hop. I love the hops, but I’m just not sure what they are aiming at

Bottle. Poured hazy copper with an average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toffee sour citrus aroma. Medium body. Medium bitter flavor with a medium smooth malty finish of long duration. Solid drinkable beer.

Just what I like best from Lagunitas. Dark amber / brown pour with a lasting tan head. Aroma is full of hops, citrus, and pine. Taste is even more hoppy with tones of citrus, pine, malt, and floral tones. Well balanaced and smooth.

Big citrus hops aroma, some fine malt too, clear orange, with a nice creamy custard head. Flavour starts with a high hops punch, plenty of good malt to back it up. Full bodied, bitter and bold. Fabulous! Thanks R!

Bottle. Ruddy, reddish copper body with a beige head. Sweet, hoppy aroma with grassy, floral notes and some sweet malts. More hops in the flavor with a nice crisp bitterness and a very mellow aftertaste. Nice, crisp mouthfeel. Well balanced, not too bitter or sweet, good carbonation. A nice balanced beer.
