This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Aroma is stray with some hops. Pours amber with a medium white head. Taste is heavy hops and fruit. Palate is fittingly stray and sticky. Overall a really pleasant beer which reminds much of a DIPA.

beer pours a lightly chill-hazed reddish amber with a pretty good white head that retains well and leaves good lace. nose is a pretty big combo of grapefruit/citrus American hops, and sweet, sticky caramel malts. maybe a wayward ester or 2 underneath. flavor is where it starts to get messy - the big, big citrus hops don’t play well with the sweet/sticky caramel malt flavors. the beer gets heavier (syrupy) as you drink it. just a lot of big flavors, inharmoniously delivered.

Bottle at Redlight. WOW. Really nice hoppy and floral aromas. Smelled very evergreen. Really liked the citrusy taste. Very light body. Very sweet with malt very present. Really liked this one.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter. Lagunitas Imperial Red pours an amber copper with a thick creamy beige head that lasts a good minute. The aroma is caramel, floral, biscuits and some pine. The flavor is fresh biscuits and caramel on the front end with floral and pine hanging on into the aftertaste. Overall this is a solid beer!

Appearance: Pours a marvelously clear copper body with a white, diminishing head. The lacing was thick but uneven. Smell: Caramel malts in the nose with a nice bit of toastiness and grain. A bit like sweet feed. The hops are piney with fruity undertones. Taste: Light bready caramel malts joined by crisp, hoppy flavors of pine resins and grapefruit. Herbaceous hops round out the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-heavy bodied, with a pleasingly smooth mouthfeel. Average carbonation. Drinkability: Though the hops can be a little cutting at times its a rather likeable red ale, and quite quaffable. Perhaps now my favorite red because of the assertive hops.

Really nice reddish golden hue that’s clear. Nice creamy off white head. Wonderful earthy, spicy hop characteristic on the nose. Nice California chewyness to the mouthfeel. Mildly astringent. Taste has a lot of spicyness to it making it lively and drinkable. Nice amount of carbonation. Not too sweet on the malt flavor like some I have had. Wonderful bold beer I wish I could make sessionable. Enjoyability 4.5/5.

Bottle, split with NachlamSie. Pours a hazy, yet ruby red color with a medium beige head. Leaves a lot of sticky lacing when swirled. Aroma is a wonderful hop bouquet, lots of citrus fruits, common for a California hop bomb. Flavor is a bit more restrained, the more lemony notes come through, along with some caramel. Finishes bitter, but still more restrained than most hop bombs. Probably a good introductory beer into massively hopped beers.

12oz bottle. red brown color with amber hues and an off white head that quickly disperses. big california hop aroma. loads of citrusy hops and a touch of caramel. pineapple, mango, potpourri, and floral hops. like a red ale calirfornia style.

Clear dark amber with good rich head. Grapefruit, pine, and caramel. Hops dominate. Alcohol makes its presence right before the strong bitter finish. Medium to full body.
